I have seen the recent negative reviews on the Vanilla paste here on Amazon and it made me second guess my purchase. I went outside of Amazon and did a little more research and found that Nielsen Massey is the number one vanilla recommended by all of my favorite chefs and baking bloggers.

Our Pure Vanilla Bean Paste is made by combining our famous Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract with real vanilla bean specks in a slightly viscous base. This means it has a rich vanilla flavor in a thick, molasses-like consistency.
What is the shelf life of Nielsen-Massey Pure Vanilla Bean Paste?
The shelf life is up to 3 years. The “Best By” date printed on the side of the bottle indicates its expiration.
Can I use vanilla bean paste instead of vanilla extract?
Yes. If a recipe calls for vanilla extract, you can substitute an equal quantity of vanilla paste. For example, 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste = 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
How should I cook with Pure Vanilla Bean Paste?

Great product...completely replaced vanilla extract in my house.

Gives great vanilla flavor! I use it for everything...used save it for special desserts, but not anymore! My only “complaint” is that, because of the sugar the lip has to be cleaned 100% (much like maple syrup etc) or it welds shut. But that’s a very minor effort to make.
