My sister (a major Nigella fan) gave this book to our Mother many years ago! She caused me to fall in love with the Bitter Orange Icecream recipe first. This was probably the first recipe book I ever cooked with. First I used to make: the rainy day biscuits to begin with, Then the sticky date pudding, Then the pigs in blankets, The Pasta E Fagioli... I could go on... This is a fantastic recipe book. Full of easy to do recipes that every one (who doesn't have diabetes or some other food or fat related illness) can enjoy, though the recipes are definitly calorific. But Yummy. Oh. So Yummy... I also like the way Nigella Lawson's personality comes through in the books, Nigella relaxed approach to food makes cooking a joy.

This is the best of Nigella's cookbooks. The recipes are in fact easy and fast - and different. Every one of them I have done was so good as to merit putting a copy of the recipe into the recipe file. I like all of her cookbooks but this one is one for the busy person. She is fantastic!

Loved it, love her, love all her shows, recipes are easy. Have been watching reruns of this for years and decided it was time to own book.

Yeah, she makes it look a lot easier than it is for most cooks, but her recipes are clear, concise, and best of all you can TRUST them. Measurements, cooking time, and instructions are ALWAYS accurate. A couple of times I have second-guessed her, always much to my chagrin. Always trust her! Not overly complicated...loaded with her amusing, down-home directions she is famous for, like " scrape up the bits from the bottom of the pan ", or "give it a good mash". Lots of great weekend recipes...i.e., throw on some spices, shove it in the oven and ignore it while you socialize. She is absolutely one of my favorite chefs...I would go so far as to say a very gifted, yet under recognized, world class chef. Nothing fancy, mind you, but absolutely spot on. A very inspiring collection of great recipes. Having a weekend meal at Nigella's house is certainly on my #bucketlist!... And trust me, "I'm free that weekend !" #best recipes
