Clement Clarke Moore was a professor of religion and the author of several scholarly works. What he is most remembered for, however, is his poem "An Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas," later called "The Night Before Christmas," and written as a Christmas gift for his six children.

I truly love these books, especially at the cheapy price. I bought this for my son since he was actually born the night before Christmas and I'm in awe. I would give it 5 stars, but the sensor gets really screwy in low light and won't activate until you're in a well lit area. Kind of sucky since in my daydreams we're hovered near a fireplace, but now I'll have to sit under a bright lamp. Maybe I'll use a rocking chair?

Well, the sensors get screwy in low-light, so if you're trying to record and it says "please turn to the page you wish to record" over and over, you need it to be brighter. If that happens, then it probably won't read the pages until you get a higher light setting too.

Anyway, great idea, especially for 5 bucks. I can't wait to wrap up for my boys

This recordable story is such a superb ideas. I purchased this from Amazon go send to my grandson in Oregon when he was 2. He loved it and listened to it many many times. He was able to tell his parents who was speaking, Grammy!

You must read the instructions thoroughly before using. I made several mistakes along the way, but you are able to go back and correct errors by re-reading the entire page. It takes some practice, and you may need to speak faster than normal. But in the end, you wind up with a story read by a loved one. Memories and keepsakes galore!

The text and illustrations are reminiscent of the original. This book has a very easy method to record one's own reading. I received a used copy, so I recorded over the previous recording. The fidelity of my recording was still very clear. It took recording the first page, to be able to determine the reading pace necessary to complete the reading within the allotted recording time for each page. I liked that the recording was limited to page by page. The recording and play back were all engineered within the book.

The book was fairly expensive but I live a long way from my granddaughter so wanted get it for her. The first book I received was defective, would not record. When I finally received the replacement book (took two weeks to get), I had some difficulty with recording. The first page had to be read very quickly to get the entire page read before the recording ended. Same thing happened on a couple other pages. I really wasn't able to inject comments to my granddaughter when I wanted to on some pages because of this, I had to read the text too quickly. It was easy to record, and instructions were clear. I do know that this book will be enjoyed by my granddaughter so I think it was worth it.

I purchased this for my youngest grandson for Christmas. After I purchased new batteries for it, I then began the recording. After recording each page, it let me hear what I recorded so I could edit it if need be, When I was done with the book and played it back page by page, it skipped 2 pages, so I re-recorded the entire thing again and it still skipped the same 2 pages. I was very disappointed and it was too late to return. At least he will have something to joke about, I guess.

Since the grandsons overused the previous book, a new one was needed also so that the new member of the family could be recognized in the dedication. Needless to say, this story was a hit as my grandsons sat next to their grandpa as he turned the pages and all could hear his prerecorded voice. This year they spent Christmas with us and in the future they can hear grandpa's words when they are not here. Lovely book and really enjoyed the music.

It was a lovely book for us to record the story so that our grandaughter in Southern Ireland can hear our voices. My daughter is going to give the book to her on Christmas eve so she will hear us telling the story on that special night.

Could Hallmark books produce more books suitable for 6 year olds - most of the recordable books are for younger little people.
