ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this as a replacement camera for my existing Night Owl DVR system and I am disappointed the quality is far from consistent with the existing cameras. The other cameras are similar in terms of features and specs so I expected the same quality. Mind you, I recognize I don't have a high end system so I feel like my expectations were realistic.
The package arrived quickly, contained everything listed and was very easy to install into my existing DVR system.
I think the quality during the day of this new camera was grainier than my existing cameras. However, it was good enough to do the job were I can say I was satisfied.
But, then the evening came and I was very disappointed with the night vision quality. Night vision on this new camera is very grainy, extends only a few feet and really seems to only capture the center of the image - the rest is just darkness as you can see in my pictures.
I'm attaching picture of the camera views from my tv - mind you they do look a bit better in person. The new camera I just bought focuses on my back yard, which is not very deep. You can see the planter on the patio, but not too much past it. You can't even see the back fence or the rest of the side fence, which is where my gate is. Mostly, the night vision seems to only show the center of the camera view. I've attached two pictures showing the view of the new camera.
As an example, I'm also adding a picture of an existing camera I have over my driveway. It's not nearly as grainy and I have complete sight of my neighbors back fence! If lift the camera, I can even see farther out into my neighbor's garage at night! But, I lowered the camera so I could have the best view of my driveway. I attached one picture of this view.
Note, I did not turn on the lights for either camera. Light does not seem to make a difference for this new camera I just bought, and of course light does make the view of my driveway with the old camera look even better. I didn't edit or add filters to the pictures. Pics are of my tv showing the camera views.
Overall, I'm disappointed with the quality. I'm even unsure it would add much descriptive/detailed value if intruder/thief entered that area.
