Okay this review is a bit different because my original review, which was well thought out if I do say so myself, got accidently deleted by my Kindle. I’m still not happy about that happening but there isn’t a way to get it back. So … here you go from what I recall about this novel …
It’s about Ainsley a woman who has the powers to see and unintentionally draw paranormal creatures to her. However, she is sick of her power so she finds a “out of the area” place to live where she has created a home she enjoys. But as Halloween is a few days away, she finds that something very evil is after her and her strongest protections won’t save her. Therefore, when unlikely help from a handsome vampire comes along Ainsley finds him and his help impossible to resist. Quickly a crossroads in her life comes to pass, will she take the course that will lead her to a new future (one she never expected) or will she try to protect herself from the upcoming events so she can try to keep her life as normal as possible?
I really enjoyed how this novel was laid out; it’s intensely written with a surprise romance wrapped in a fast-paced adventure that keeps you interested from the beginning. In addition, I LOVED Ainsley’s relationship with both Zane and Kate! Zane seemed like Ainsley’s perfect half, plus he’s described as a handsome vampire who was also sweet and charming, while Kate was just a sweet girl who Ainsley and Zane unintentionally grew to love and wanted the best for her future.
Though this novel was not written as I had expected, its main and secondary characters won me over. I am also curious to know if Ainsley’s witch and angel/guardian friends ended up together too.
I recommend it to those looking for a unique first person paranormal romance.

This is the story about Ainsley Tennant, aka The Ghost Whisperer. Ainsley can see ghosts, identify demons, vampires, and other creatures that walk in the night, and has been able to since she was a small child. The supernatural beings are drawn to Ainsley unbeknownst to her, and have made her life very unpleasant. In order to get away, Ainsley has hidden herself in a remote town in Ohio. She has been there a year now, and things go from slow and boring to fast and scary in a heartbeat! Can a witch, vampire, angel and little girl help Ainsley conquer her fears, or just help her to an early grave?
For such a short story (about 100 pages), I fell hard and fast for Ainsley's story! I loved the mystery behind her ability, and the danger that lurked just outside her front door. Ainsley was just a boring librarian that minded her own business, until one night when an eerie feeling crept over her. Finding a demon, then a couple of demons, then a hoard of demons standing on your front lawn staring up at her bedroom window every night was quite unsettling. Just when Ainsley gathers up the courage to think about maybe trying to shoo the demons away, out steps a vampire! Great, could things get worse...YES! While at work she is approached by a little girl named Kate, and Kate has a ghastly secret. Realizing she needs to up the protection wards on her house because of all the evil activity, Ainsley visits her friend and magic shop owner Monica to gather supplies and get some advice. I haven't even mention the sweet lovin’ angel yet! Sounds like a bad joke right? An angel, a demon and a vampire walk into a bar...balls! Don't forget the witch too! The ability to develop such characters and their relationships in a short story like this was amazing! I truly felt connected to them and empathized with their horrible situation.
The whole idea behind the story was Ainsley finding out who & what she really is. She was lacking knowledge in a serious way, but finding out while under attack was very stressful for Ainsley to say the least. Not knowing who she could trust, and trying to figure out how to resolve her dilemma made for some heart stopping, adrenaline rush excitement! Hot guys, hot sex, and scary showdown = 1 happy and excited blogger! The fact that this book would kick ass as a full blown novel has me super excited to see what is to come... cough, hint, ahem, ya!
