Gr 1-3–After Louis tells his favorite toy, Lamb, about Santa's bag of goodies, the stuffed animal sneaks downstairs on Christmas Eve to get a peek–and accidentally ends up in the big man's sack. Lamb chats and plays with all the other toys and tells them what to expect from their new owners, and it isn't until he is alone that he worries that he might end up with someone other than Louis. Lamb is a good-hearted protagonist, and the colorful, festive illustrations give this rather pedestrian tale a bit of saving charm.Linda Israelson, Los Angeles Public Library

It is Christmas Eve and Louis told his favorite toy, Lamb, all about Santa's big bag of toys. While Louis fell asleep, Lamb proceeds downstairs to investigate Santa's great big bag. Lamb peeks into the dark inside of Santa's bag and Lamb's curiosity got the best of him. Lamb crawls into the bag and meets many toys as Santa picks up his bag and continues his Christmas Eve journey. You will want to read this wonderful story to find out how Lamb helped the toys inside the bag with their worries, anxiety and fear of the unknown. Lamb meets and helps toys like the Look-Alike Doll, the toy Backhoe, the Jigsaw Puzzle, a Train Engine, and the Little Bunny. Not only will readers enjoy the adventures of Lamb inside Santa's Big Bag but will also learn a very important moral lesson -- the value and satisfaction of helping and encouraging others.
They love it and it became a nightly read every day until Christmas and also after.
The story is very cute and doesn't become one where you become bored of reading it over and over.
One of the things I like to look for in a book are the illustrations as they give the story that extra bit of readability as the kids look at them, they are definitely great in this book.
