This is a brilliant sequel to The Girl In The Ice. Gripping and compelling reading, it hits the ground running and doesn't stop. Who the Night Stalker is and why the victims are selected does not fit the usual profile of the serial killer so well known to crime fiction. Mr Brynzda has invented a serial killer we can feel some sympathy for, despite the creepiness of this killer stalking and then lying in wait for the selected victims to come home.
It was good to get to know DCI Foster better in this novel. Still grieving the death of her husband mark two years ago in a failed police operation led by her, she is still racked with guilt and loneliness. But she is a strong, dogged woman who will take risks and go against her Chief Super to find the killer. Her new team in London are warming to her and it was good to see their personalities develop more in this second novel of the series. Can't wait for the next instalment of this brilliant, well written series!
As the suspects start to pile up Erika and her team find themselves in a race to stop a serial killer before the body count rises. The victims are all single men, with very private lives with secrets of their own. Erika and her team need to find the link that connects all of these victims before it’s too late.
The Night Stalker is the second book in the DCI Erika Forster series by Robert Bryndza. This one could be read as a standalone but the first book in the series, The Girl in the Ice, made me a huge fan of Erika and her tough as nails, do whatever it takes to solve her case style.
With numerous twists and turns as the leads are followed and our suspects pile up this is one of those definite page turners as we follow the clues along with the detectives. I think any fans of a good police procedural will become completely engaged in this series featuring a gritty and determined strong female lead.
Overall, another great edition in this series, definitely would recommend.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Apparently the author takes suggestions about Erica's smoking habits; how about she stops smoking completely?.....it's a disgusting habit and detracts (IMHO) from her likability.
I LOVED both books. This author is amazing. I Love Detective Erika Foster.
Both books I could not put down. I am 77 years old and have read over a thousand books and this author with this new Detective series is one of the best I have ever read.
I thought Joe Nesbo was good with his Harry Hole books, but Robert Bryndza is the best.

A shot at a good story, just not quit developed enough.
Compared to many other authors though, this is a good read.
