Editorial Reviews

Review

"This is an excellent follow up to Gunhus's Night Chill book. It is just as eerie, chilling, and even harder to put down - if possible - than the first book in this series...I highly recommend this series to all readers who enjoy things that go bump in the night, especially of the paranormal variety, but I suggest that you may want to turn on some extra lights if reading it at night!" - A Goddess Of Literature.I bought this book because I enjoyed its predecessor, Night Chill. I hoped that the second book would be as good as the first. My hopes were exceeded, just as Night Terror exceeded Night Chill. This is no knock on the latter, as it is a fine work of horror. Night Terror just happens to be one of the finest of the hundreds of horror novels I have read. Strongly recommended. - T.R. Braxton.I didn't think it was possible but this one was even better than the first. Starts off exciting and ends the same. Couldn't stop reading until I was finished. I feel a third one coming. I hope so. Lot of talent to have supernatural and real life work together. - Cyndy Pugh. What a great thriller! Night Chill was super and this one was as good or better. Jeff is a masterful author with the skills to keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. I am really looking forward to his next book! - Clifton R ByrdReviews of Night Chill.Night Chill is a Foreword Reviews Book of the Year Finalist. ."Readers looking for a good scare will delight in this novel, even if they suddenly feel compelled to sleep with the lights on."- Publishers Weekly."..unforgettable, exceptional debut. A primitive ritual and an ancient secret threaten a family's safety in this heart-pounding tale of horrific madness, Guaranteed to trigger night sweats along with a childlike, irrational fear of the creaky attic, Jeff Gunhus's Night Chill will not disappoint horror fans." - Foreword Clarion Reviews - 5 STARS.Gunhus delivers a taut supernatural thriller...the powerful Nate Huckley terrifies, and the assorted cast of human antagonists add to the white-knuckle tension. All the chops of an action-packed horror tale." - Kirkus Reviews

From the Author

After the successful publication and reception of my Middle Grade/YA series Jack Templar Monster Hunter in 2012, I returned to a genre I've always loved...horror. While Jack Templar was my way of connecting with my reluctant reader sons and helping them find a love for books, Night Chill was my reconnection with a type of story I always loved. Something creepy, not too gory, but enough to make you lock the doors and check the closet for strangers. Stephen King and Dean Koontz were the masters of the genre and I loved (and love) their books. I never expected that Night Chill would find the audience it did. One of my favorite screenshots is the book rankings on Amazon from January 5th, 2014. It shows Night Chill at #4, sandwiched among Stephen King's Doctor Sleep, Under The Dome and Dean Koontz's Innocence. Pretty heady stuff. Night Terror is my return to this genre and an exploration of the characters I've come to love ten years after the events of the Night Chill. I hope you have as much fun reading it as I did writing it. As always, I remain both honored and humbled by your willingness to see what's lurking inside my mind. Trust me, it's a scary place. Best wishes, Jeff Gunhus

Jeff Gunhus is the USA TODAY bestselling author of thriller and horror novels for adults and the middle grade/YA series, The Templar Chronicles. The first book, Jack Templar Monster Hunter, was written in an effort to get his reluctant reader eleven-year-old son excited about reading. It worked and a new series was born. His books for adults have reached the Top 30 on Amazon, have been recognized as Foreword Reviews Book of the Year Finalists, Kirkus Top 100 Indie Books and reached the USA TODAY bestseller list.

After his experience with his son, he is passionate about helping parents reach young reluctant readers and is active in child literacy issues. As a father of five, he leads an active life in Maryland with his wife Nicole by trying to constantly keep up with their kids. In rare moments of quiet, he can be found in the back of Old Fox Books in Annapolis working on his next novel or on JeffGunhus.com.
