Fearing that the meteor will trigger tidal waves, volcanic eruptions and an ice age, they gather a group of people with sail boats to set off along the St Lawrence Seaway to try to reach the Atlantic Ocean. Here they hope to find a safe haven where they can live in the years ahead.
Shrader is guided in his quest by voices in the night which show him the path they need to follow.
I found it hard to put this book down.I felt anxious and on edge as I waited for the next problem to arise.Rob Smith is a true sailor and much of the terminology was way over my head. But this did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. I do feel that I would like a sequel telling the story from the point where it left off.
I am sure most of the book is based on fact. One thing made me a bit worried. If true that small meteors hitting earth increase the weight by 910 metric tons each day, is this not likely to throw the earth off its orbit. Okay Rob Smith, tell me this isn't likely to happen
