The Nike Romaleos 2 is a lightweight, flexible powerlifting shoe that can withstand the unique punishment that weightlifters put on their footwear. Synthetic upper with integrated lacing and two large hook-and-loop closures to keep the foot locked in place. Elastic added to the top of the shoe flexes with the tendons of the foot during the movement of lifting. Contoured TPU heel wedge cups the heel for a secure fit. Each pair comes with two insoles: stiff for competition and softer for training. The flat rubber outsole is specially designed to minimize wear in the heel. Wt. 15.8 oz.

Weightlifting is a SPORT. It involves two lifts, the SNATCH, and the CLEAN AND JERK. For more information, please watch the Summer Olympics every four years, or regional and international meets.
Most people confuse the explicit name of the sport with the words/concepts "bodybuilding", "exercising", "working out". If you are running, do not buy these. If you intend on doing box jumps, then a layup, do not buy these. If you're going to kiss your biceps while doing arm curls on the preacher curl machine, save your money.
They have a very specific purpose which is to lock in your foot, raise your heel, and be the perfect shoe to execute either the weightlifting lifts (snatch, clean and jerk) or the associated training lifts (high bar low back squat, front squat, hang cleans, power snatches, power cleans, cleans from blocks, etc. etc. etc.)
If you are one of those crossfit people, Chad, go buy the Metcons. If you're a powerlifter, you already know Chucks are the best thing for the low bar/back raise wide footed suit-assisted squats powerlifting does. If you just want to look cute in the gym, buy any of a number of other shoes. Save your money and spend the difference on tanning beds and cutoff shirts.
