Top Customer Reviews
My husband likes the feature that allows you to zoom in on an object after you have focused on a larger field. We have a 140 acre farm and have sheep and goats that graze over the farm, plus wild life. The binoculars allow us to check on the animals from the house and respond appropriately if we see danger or distress. The Travelite III allowed us to check on the animals in a field of vision and then try to focus a bit closer to see if there was actually a problem -- maybe it was just a stump I was seeing from the window. However, with the Aculon we can actually focus up close and see what's really going on, instead of guessing. This will save us a lot of false trips walking out to the pasture to check on our flock -- especially during lambing season.
It's perfect for our needs as farmers. And wild life watchers. For me, the red colour of this pair was a selling feature. It means that the binoculars are easier to find if you lay them down in the grass or on a rock. The black binoculars are harder to find in the shadows.
But I am a plinker and this Nikon 8-24x25 Aculon Zoom binocular is AOK for checking out target hits in lieu of buying a spotting scope.
Simple as that.
I was very pleased with the quality of this Nikon. It arrived quickly and packed well. Out of the box, and checking out sights around the neigborhood on a overcast cloudy day, everything appeared sharp and clear. At 24X, all I personally had to do was lean against a deck post to steady the view. No big deal.
The binocular case is sufficient for the job, although you wouldn't want to take it out in the rain, IMO. The lens cover really isn't one of Nikon's best to be sure, but I can live with that.
So, from an average goomer off of the street review, I'd say you would be happen with these rather inexpensive binoculars.
As a side note, my 5-year old granddaughter didn't want to give them back to me as she was having a good time looking at the neighbors. All good !
