I have a lot of lenses, mostly APO lenses. I also have the Nikon Z 0.95 NOCT to compare this to. I had to sell a lot of lenses to afford these. The NOCT-95 is large, bulky, and heavy, but a VERY fine lens, but I don't hike with it or use it off tripod either. The new Plena is wonderful. It is very sharp but not as sharp as a macro lens like the Nikon Z 105mm S MC lens, but plenty sharp. Although I am mostly known for focus stacking, the Plena is not at its best stacking focus. Too many artifacts. For 'Short Stacks' is it OK, stacks of just a few shots or highlighting focus on part of an image. This is a portrait lens, a lens for a single photo wide open, and it excells at that. For me, the knockout punch with this lens it the expansive amount of light it lets in and the absense of vignetting. It makes you want to photograph, well, anything. It is wonderful to have all that light and clarity to the edges. Given what it is and does, it is not overpriced.
