Update: This item is going back to Amazon. Just tried it on my Qi charger. It was giving a negative current on Accubattery. Was actually draining the battery. My phone charges fine over regular USB cable, and this Qi charger works fine with my old Nexus 5 and 6... So it isn't that. I also taped the receiver to the outside of my case, so it was directly on the Qi pad too. I'm guessing it was a lemon.
The seller thought they could get sneaky with me by emailing me in Chinese attempting to bribe me with a free product to remove this review. I would put a heavier weight on this review considering the seller's shady tactics. If they had asked me if I would update my review after they send me one, I would have totally done it, but asking me to delete my review in exchange for another one is just shady as heck.
I ordered a replacement charge receiver, installed it carefully without flexing behind an Maxboost mSnap Thin Case, and it has worked well for several weeks. Using a PLESON PLS-WR-C400 charger, the Ampere app shows a typical charge rate of ~600-700 mA to the battery, which is OK. The lock screen shows "charging", not "charging rapidly".
Anyway, sure you're wondering why only 3 stars, well, some people have complained that it's thicker than they've thought it would be, and they are right, but that's not really the reason why. The little bit of thickness wouldn't have been that bad if it was properly adhered to the back of the phone. The problem is that it literally comes with just a small little bit of double sided tape right in the top middle of the pad, and that's it. It's like a strip about 1/4 centimeter wide and like a centimeter in length. So now, all of the edges are kind of sticking out from the phone a little bit, when I pick up my phone now I have to be super careful not to dislodge the receiver pad. It's not a terribly hard thing to fix though, I'm going to get some double-sided tape and tape around the edges, that should make it feel a bit more secured.
Also, the plug doesn't plug all the way in, seems to be a bit too long. In my phone, a full millimeter of the actual usb-c plug sticks out as if it's not plugged all the way in, but it's as far in as it would go. So the whole plug assembly sticks out about 3mm's from the bottom of my phone, getting in the way of my pinky when I'm trying to support my phone while using it one-handed.
Overall it still works, so I'm still going to use it. I'm sure the other options out there would probably have all of the same short-comings if not more so. So not saying not to get it, I think it's still super useful and convenient to have the wireless charging ability. I'll continue using it, it's pretty nice for what it is.
In case anyone is wondering, here are a few more things to consider:
1. Yes, this will cover up your USB port.
2. The plug does stick out a bit so it may be a little harder to get it to stand up straight on the wireless charger. (I am going to stick two rubber bumper stickers on the charging stand so that it'll sit on those instead.)
3. It doesn't seem to interfere with the NFC as I am still able to use the NFC through the receiver.
4. I do wish it didn't advertise itself all over the back, if it was just black or had a subtle pattern to it, that would have been much nicer.
That said, it's probably the best option out there right now (Aug 2017). It works reliably and maintains a strong connection to both versions of my Samsung wireless fast charger. If you have bionic hearing, you may be able to discern a little coil whine or ticking, but that seems to be normal in these Qi receivers due to the way the circuitry manages the electrical load from the wireless charger.
My advice for iPhone wireless charging add-on newbies is to make sure you buy a "fast" wireless charger -- one that either comes with (or allows you to safely use) an AC adapter that pushes more than 2 amps to the wireless charging plate/unit. Without that extra power, the wireless connection between a receiver like this and the wireless charger will intermittently drop and the setup won't be reliable.
I'm using the Type C Wireless Charging Receiver (short version) from Nillkin with my Nexus 6P. Since moving from a Nexus 5 to a Nexus 6, I've missed wireless charging on my Nexus 6P. When I'm sitting at my desk or going to bed, I like the convenience of setting my phone on a wireless charger. The charging receiver fit's between the phone and the slim case, and the Type C plug has a 90 degree elbow where it plugs into the phone. The bulge in the case is nearly imperceptible. Of course, wireless charging is slower than regular charging -- using this wireless receiver I'm charging at about 40% per hour. At this wireless charging rate my phone is always topped off for me at my desk or full when I wake up. See attached pick of my Nexus 6P with the Nillkin charging coil atop an old Nokia Qi charger. I also use a Tylt Vu wireless charger. For the price, the Type C Wireless Charging Receiver (short version) from Nillkin is a no brainer.
