Now, I don't want to give too much away and spoil it for you. BUT, I really enjoyed that the book wasn't told from just the gang's perspective. Nine Hours 'Till Sunrise gave us more than a single point of view. Which only made it more realistic...more believable.
I may be more of a love story zombie-girl than a shoot em up zombie-girl, but that did nothing to impact how much I enjoyed Nine Hours 'Till Sunrise! This book is a must read for any fan of action plus old time Wild Westerns. As I read, I wasn't sure what to expect next, which added much excitement to every chapter. Five stars well earned from this reviewer. I would definitely read more from this author and will be headed over to Amazon pick out my next read!
Nine Hours 'Till Sunrise is about a gang of six outlaws who are hunting down a man named Pat Ormsby, a former gang member who stole a sack of rubies from them. The gang rides into a small town, looking for the thief who stole their treasure. Little do they know, the town is overrun by an army of the undead. The whole story takes place in one night, and the zombie romp begins nine hours before the sun rises (hence the title).
Nine Hours 'Till Sunrise is written very well, and I would definitely call it a page turner. The whole book is action packed, but the reader stills gets to know the characters as the story develops. The story was told from different perspectives throughout the book. I enjoyed the writing and the characterization. I'm looking forward to reading other works by this author. I would definitely read another zombie western in the future. So if you're a fan of zombies or the Wild West (or both), then I highly recommend that you pick up a copy of Nine Hours 'Till Sunrise.
This compact, suspenseful and action-packed adventure of Ben and his band of villains is a book one can finish in an evening. True to the nature of lawless men, jealousy, hatred and the desire to kill one another, are rife among the members of Ben's group. Despite the life threatening situation they find themselves in, every man is still focussed only on avenging himself on his old comrade, Pat Ormsby, getting the rubies and being the sole survivor to claim said rubies.
The action takes the reader onto the roofs of the buildings of an old Western town, through underground passages and into highly dangerous mine shafts. In the end the main character, Caroline, must make impossibly difficult decisions regarding the lives of one of the men and her deaf daughter, Suzanna.
For a book full of adventure, lots of bloodshed and gore, and an underlying, very touching bit of humanity and compassion, I highly recommend Nine Hours Till Sunrise. (Ellen Fritz)
