I've read the entire Amber saga in paperback, and these Kindle versions appear to be quite decent transcriptions - there are the usual sorts of simple mistakes in OCR, but not huge ones.
And the best of it is - well, not the best, the books are the best, but next best is that it shows up the John Beatamcourt k..p. How those could have been allowed is beyond me. Using not only Zelazny's name, but also his creation to sell the "Dawn of ..." series is just plain intellectual plagiarism - what kind of an author can live with such theft? And as I understand it, because I certainly did not buy them, not much good either.
So anybody else who is a fantasy reader, give these a wide berth and treat yourselves to the real Zelazny!
It's a great story with wonderful characters, fantastic and imaginative settings, and great emotion-evoking scenes and dialog.
This is masterful story telling.
When I think about my reasons for wanting to be a writer, or the inspirations, I always think of Zelazny and The Chronicles of Amber first. This series as much as any, and more than most, defines the genre for me.
If you have not read it, I believe you should. If you have not read it in a long time, you will enjoy it again.
