After Jemma loses her memory in an horrific car accident, it seems that all the beautiful years she had with Braxton, from childhood to adulthood were forgotten. Perhaps never to be remembered. Poor Braxton. My heart bled for him. He adored Jemma. Worshipped the ground she walked on. Couldn’t imagine his life without her. Never thought he would lose her and yet, he did. In one of the cruellest ways to lose her. She was alive but had no memory of him, or the 19 years they’d known one another.
When Braxton starts writing her letters about their lives together, I cried for him. I cried for them. I can’t imagine what it is like to see someone you love. To remember every moment you’ve ever spent with them, and to have them look at you like a stranger.
It wasn’t just Braxton though. Jemma had lost everything. The memories of her parents, her grandparents, Braxton’s parents. Her whole life gone, as if someone had wiped the slate clean and left her to start over.
I loved this. I wish I hadn’t been such a chicken about facing it and reading it, and had read it earlier. A beautifully emotional story of a love that has to be remembered.
I knew going in this one was going to be a tear jerker, but their love story from the blurb sounded like on of those amazing Epic love stories and I knew I had to check it out. I am not a lover of the Notebook but do recognize the fact it's one of those epic love stories that people will always talk about and will watch the movie over and over again, crying every time. I knew in my heart this was going to be one of those
Jemma and Braxton have known each other since they were kids and their relationship only grew over time until they were teenagers and finally moved things from best friends to something so much more. These two were meant to spend forever together, they had spent the last 19 years together and were just starting their lives as a married couple when tragedy struck and Jemma is left with amnesia and doesn't remember anyone including the love of her life.
This story is told in dual POV but we are first introduced to Braxton as the story begins. The author doesn't waste any time and gets right into the tragedy and I must say I loved that. Throughout this book we get to see their full story as Braxton begins to tell their story through as series of 19 letters he has decided to write Jemma but never at any point did this book fell slow moving or drawn out. Reading this book felt like it played out as a movie. The flow was perfect and storytelling flipping from present to past and back again was so well done. I am normally not a fan of flipping back and forth between past and present but it was told perfectly through Braxton's letters.
Braxton was perfect. He was the man every women dreams of. He is sweet and caring and so very thoughtful. When he took the vow "In sickness and health" he meant it. He never gave up on Jemma and their love and how he proceeded to try to make her fall in love with him for a second times was truly amazing and totally swoon worthy.
I loved Jemma's character. She felt so realistic. She was empty and alone yet surrounded by those who loved her. But she never gave up, she had her moments of Why me but never did she come off as whiny. She was such a strong character and I loved that we got to see some of the story from her POV and get to see inside her head, it truly completed their story to see it from both sides
This book broke my heart so many times and had me crying to the point I was sobbing. But I couldn't put it down because it had a way of giving me hope and healing that brokenness even if it was just a bit. It also had me smiling so many times, and chuckling to myself as well. This one was definitely an emotional rollercoaster I required Kleenex for but it was worth every tear.
If this book every became a movie, I truly don't think they could do it justice but at the same time, it would be that movie I would watch over and over again. It's that Epic romance that stays with you for a long time and I know Jemma and Braxton's story is going to. I must say it was an internal struggle reading this, I couldn't inhale it fast enough but struggled to slow myself down. I could not put it down, I needed to read that next letter, hear their story and watch her fall in love with him all over again but I didn't want it to end. And now that it has, I am so sad and have such a hangover. I am not ready to say goodbye to these characters and although I know I will pick this one up again and read it, sadly all those first time feels this book has given me won't happen a second time around.
Braxton is loving, caring , gentleman who love his wife with all his heart. Distance isn't imposible to show Jem how important she is for him
"I'm in love with you Braxton, Not just friend love. Love, love. I think I have been for years, I just didn’t know it. When I heard Samantha say she was going to have sex with you, I honestly felt like I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t stand the thought of you being with anyone but me."
"What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten. This is our story …
Love with your entire heart while you have the chance, because life is far too precious to waste on any uncertainty.

Jemma sets off for work as the falling rain gets heavier and heavier. She is t-boned in an horrific accident and is critically injured with disfiguring gashes all over her body, broken bones and more worryingly a head injury. Braxton is heartbroken and doesn’t leave her bedside, even though she is deeply unconscious.
Gradually Jemma wakes up but tragically she has no memory of her life before the accident. She doesn’t recognise her parents or best friend either. Braxton decides to woo her back with a series of letters of their most gorgeous memories in the hope that she will gradually regain her memory or at least fall in love with him all over again. This is their story.
This novel, beautifully written and totally absorbing, is written by Australian novelist Jodi Perry. She is so talented and her nineteen letters are breathtakingly poignant, as is Jemma’s slow and painful recovery. This is the love story to end all love stories and I am definitely going to explore Jodi Perry’s backlist because I enjoyed this one so very much. A word of warning, you’ll definitely need some tissues handy, but you’ll also enjoy the humour injected into this magical story.
Your forever boy
An amazing story. I was pulled into this amazing romantic yet tragic story from the very first chapter.
A childhood and best friends to lovers romance sharing the lives of two people brought onto this earth to love oneanother.
The beginning of this book starts with tragedy when on her first day back at work following her honeymoon Jemma is involved in a car accident.
It's serious with tramaric head wounds and although Jemma pulls through her memory is completely gone.
Braxton is so in love with Jemma you can feel his despair pouring from the pages.
19 letters Braxton writes to Jemma sharing everything from their childhood to that fateful day and it's a beautiful journey from the first letter to the last.
I had goosebumps, I sighed, smiled, laughed and sat there with tears brimming were I could no longer see the words, I couldn't blink sitting in awe or just overwhelmed in some scenes.
An absolutely breathtaking read that perfected my lazy Sunday.
Told in first person dual pov and includes the letters written by Braxton as Jemma reads them and more importantly this story leads to a heart warming hea.
Braxton definitely goes to the top of my bbf shelf.
19 Letters is my first ever read by Jodie & wow what a book to introduce me to a new author. There is nothing I didn't love about this entire book. It was sweet, soul searching & devastating, filled with so much love I couldn't help but be swept along with the story & the emotions that poured from the pages
Childhood friends, to lovers, to husband & wife. Brax & Jem really did personify what true love should represent & within the first few chapters, I could already feel how deep their loved flowed & just how much they were made for each other. Until tragedy strikes & omg my heart was ripped out & trampled on, because suddenly this perfect love that I was so caught up in, was thrown into turmoil, with the possibility of never being found again & let me tell, what a tragedy that would have been
The story is soo damn gorgeous. It's about a boy who loved a girl, who became a man who worshiped his wife. It's about a man who in his darkest hour, refused to give up, refused to walk way. It's about a man who had enough love to give for both for both them & would give it as long as he needed too, because this man knew to the centre of his very soul, that what he & his wife had was far to beautiful to be forgotten. (be still my heart)
I cried, laughed & cried some more. Tears of sadness, tears of sorrow & plenty tears of happiness. The story unfolded beautifully, the letters were so well crafted that I felt the memories I read about were my own I was THAT wrapped up in them. raving the next before I'd even finished reading the one I was on. The pace was perfect & the angst, well it was enough to keep the pages turning & heart yearning for a very well deserved, epic hea.
A truly wonderful read & it won't be my last by this fabulous author.
This is my first read from Jodi/JL Perry and oh THE FEELS!! Be prepared to laugh, cry, swoon and cry some more. This book will leave you with a heavy but beautifully, full heart. This was a husband and wife so incredibly in love with each other and have been best friend since young childhood.
When they go through something incredibly catastrophic and painful your heart breaks. But the love, healing, and pure heart-warming moments between Braxton and Jemma. You will feel it in your heart on every single page of this book. If you're looking for a ROMANCE WITH FEELS, you have found it with Nineteen Letters!!
"He’s not only the love of my life; he’s my best friend, my soul mate, my forever boy."
Such a wonderful story to read, I look forward to reading more books by Jodi Perry.
The one thing I love about the indie author community is watching authors work develop and their skill grow. I have read Jodi's books from her first and loved the sexy reads so when Jodi was nervous about how this story would be received I was nervous too.
However, this story outshines everything else she has written, it is a beautiful journey of love and particulary how much a man sincerely loves his wife with everything he has. It will make you sob, laugh and smile and Braxton will make you sigh.
My heart broke for this couple that, even though we only got a glimpse of their life, clearly loved each other and seemed to have it all. Till tragedy suddenly robs them of that life leaving them both reeling and coping with the struggle of a life changing injury and the worry of what their future held for them. Poor Jemma, how do cope with being a stranger in your own life, not knowing who anyone is or how you all got to the stage where the pause button got stuck.
Braxton feels Jemma slipping away from him and whilst not wanting to overwhelm his wife he wants her to remember the love they shared. So he decides to write her letters with glimpses of their past, a life they shared since childhood that blossomed over time and nineteen because that is a special number to them. I looked forward to his letters, I loved them and how he bared his heart and soul with each of them.
But are the letters enough to bring Jemma back to him and to her former self?? Well you need to read this beautifully written story to truly appreciate what is in store for Braxton and Jemma.
A standalone read that I have already been telling everyone they must read. Well Done to Jodi Perry, it is a wonderful story.
