Have used this a few days now and several different meals.
I really like using it since it has been too hot to run our oven or even stove.
So now with this I have been able to do much more than just my usual slow cooker recopies. .
Have used the steam feature for fish and veggies that turned out perfectly.
Used the stove top feature the other day to cook up some chicken in it.
Now after using this for several meals so far some of the things I like and little tips about this set.
Nice big pot that really does fit more than I thought it would. At first when I unboxed it my first thought was it would be too small for our standard Sunday dinner roasts. Thankfully I was wrong. The one I made fit just fine and still had room for the onions and carrots.
You can steam and sear food with this pot. Be sure to keep the hole on the lid away from you so that when you go to lift it you do not get the heat/steam coming back up at you.
Comes with a nice recipe book that is filled with all kinds of foods to make in your pot with every setting. Some recopies are perfect for beginners as they are so quick and easy to make.
Clean up is a breeze which was another thing I worried about if I really wanted to clean a large pot every night.
Well I can tell you that it has been much easier to clean up one pot compared to several that my dinner sometimes would be using up.
Now some of the things that I feel like I can not give it 5 stars for -
It comes with an insulated carry case HOWEVER I put the pot in without any food inside and it was such a tight fit not sure how you could safely put the unit in the case with food and not make a mess or spill on yourself when either trying to put it in or take it out.
Also the silicone hot half mitts that come with we have tried to use but just end up using our own full sized ones.
Yes you will need hot pads if you take the inner pot out for any reason as it gets very hot - or even if you just take off the lid and need to hold onto the lip of the pot to stir food you will need to use an oven mitt for sure.
It comes with these two large forks for taking out your large meats like a roast.
Well those forks have these little black rubber stoppers on the sharp tips that come off so not sure what the point of those are.
At first we thought ok so maybe they were just there for shipping - but nope we tried to pull the rest off and could not do it.
Also note it is a larger unit that what one might be used to with their standard slow cooker so will need more counter space when using it.
Overall we are really giving this unit a work out and feel like one side benefit has been eating healthier fresher food now too.
The 150 recipes look so delicious. I can't wait to try all of them. The all purpose pan works great for baking biscuits and pastries but I haven't baked a cake yet... the pan is a little small, about 8x9 inches.
The only reservation I have with this cooker is that the LED screen is how you program cook times and standby times. After the luck I've had with programmable coffee pots with LED screen that quit because those parts can't take the heat, I'm thinking this might be a problem. I can't tell how well the program thingy is insulated. After about a year or so, I'll come back and let you know about that.
One bad design feature is the steam vent in the glass lid. You can't cook under kitchen cabinets as the steam would collect under them and lead to ruin. The venting must be required to keep moisture from collecting under the pan, but it limits where you can use the cooker.
This seems to be a well-made product and worth the price.
Will keep revising the review as we try more of the features.
Pros of cuisinart:
*outside of pot stays cool
*handles are not metal and are cool
*lid on pot has a nice curve to it
Pros of Ninja: It cost less is about it. The handles won't break like on the cuisinart, with the past two ones I owned, but they are hot. Yes it comes with little pot grippers, but they are ridiculously small.
Should work just as well - but the cuisinart and ninja both have pros and cons, and do basically the same thing, but the cuisinart has digital programming temperatures -
So, either one is okay, just be sure you know that the outside of the pot gets hot, and the handles do as well.
