The microsuede material passed the touch test and feels like a quality material. The interior lining itself (which is what would either scratch or protect the finish) is a fine velvet material that does not appear to have any abrasive qualities at all. It won't scratch the finish unless it's dirty.
The construction of the case is sturdy with good even stitching. It looks like a soft case with no rigid support, but in actuality, the inner and outer layers are stitched over plastic sheet inserts giving the case rigid form. While this should do a better job of protecting the 3DS from bumps, drops, etc, it does so at the cost of adding bulk to the case, which was not what I wanted, but it is quality construction that will likely be durable enough to last the lifetime of the 3DS.
The game card pockets on the inside flap of the case also add a fair amount of thickness to the case in exchange for the convenience of being able to hold 3 games. The top edges of the pockets aren't stitched and so the microsuede exterior layer can become separated from the inner layer backing when inserting a card inside.
The included stylus, while more comfortable to use than the included factory telescoping stylus, is of mediocre quality and due to the chunky size, will never be used on the go.
The case is very flimsy, and feels like cardboard with synthetic suede stitched on. The snap is not my favorite, as it can require a bit of pressure to close, at least in the case I recieved. This case would've benefited from two magnetic snaps instead. The 3DS is exposed on all four corners, so expect pocket lint or anything else to enter the case if you throw it in a backpack or purse with other items. Instead of using nice elastic material to hold the three games, which is almost standard in most 3DS cases, they use the suede material. It stretches out, unfortunately, so it doesn't keep as firm a hold on your games as other cases.
Don't let the stylus entice you into buying this case. I had to remove a bunch of sticky residue off the side of it, that was caused by the packaging glue. It's a very muddy grey color, and says Nintendo DS instead of 3DS, go figure. The worst part about the stylus is that I went to clip it to something, and realized the clip isn't even functional. It's a solid piece of plastic that is only for looks, so don't plan on clipping it to anything.
I can't recommend the Microsuede case to anyone. Instead, I can recommend the ...Read more ›
This is the most compact yet protective case I had for my 3DS.
There are small openings due to the design but I wouldn't worry about it too much.
As others have noted, this case feels like cheap fake suede cloth wrapped around cardboard. Also, the 3DS big pen stylus is bulky and I do not recommend it unless your fingers feel cramped with the smaller styli.
If you want a small case that looks professional, I would recommend getting the Executive Case over this one. It might cost a bit more but it's definitely worth it.

As far as basic cases go, it's great. Looks sharp and is functional. It doesn't close too well when there's a game inserted into the middle slot though.Published on December 27, 2013 by Eric J.

This is a good little holder for when the 3ds is not being used. Made from nice material and sturdy. Keeps the 3ds clean and safe. Thank you.Published on September 27, 2013 by Amazon Customer
It does what it should do, but the 3ds fills it completely. I was hoping for enough room, if not a slot, to keep the stylus. Besides that and the lack of a strap, it's fine.Published on July 25, 2013 by Ashlie
