Face Tracking 3D & Faster Processing Power than Nintendo 3DS
Using the inner camera, face tracking 3D provides an improved 3D gaming experience from a wider range of viewing angles compared to Nintendo 3DS. The New Nintendo 3DS Xl system adjusts the 3D “sweet spot” based on the location of the user’s face.
Improved processing power allows for faster loading of applications, such as Miiverse and games. Plus the improved CPU performance allows you to enjoy faster speeds for downloading software.
Built in amiibo & NFC support and C Stick for Enhanced Controls
Enhance your compatible games with amiibo figures. Simply tap your amiibo on the touch screen and discover the power inside.
The C Stick opens a new world to your games. With certain games, you can freely control the in-game camera to get a new point of view.

I believe he loves it

I believe he loves it
It comes preinstalled with Super Mario World which is actually a huge plus for us because it's one less game to get lost or damaged and even though we have the game, you can only have 3 save files on it, there's 4 people in our family that play it so that helps a lot! It was a nice perk though that wasn't the reason we picked this particular system.
He really loves this and can take it anywhere with him since it's so small and portable. I prefer he brings this places instead of his iPad because for one it's cheaper, but it's also less likely to get broken or damaged. I bought him a case at a local store to hold it as well as his games and the cord.
I'm giving it 4 stars because for some really stupid reason, the 3DS XL systems do NOT come with cords. I remember older Game Boy systems could use batteries OR a charging cord, so they didn't come with the cords, which makes sense. My previous DSI XL came with a cord because there is no option to change the batteries, it's only a rechargeable lithium ion battery. I assumed the same went for this when. I bought the first 2 for my husband and I when we upgraded from the DSI XL systems and I assumed wrong, literally all that is in the box is the system, one stylus, and cards that you can use to play games with the system. The DSI XL came with 2 styluses and a stylus that was thick and looked like a pen. I'm not sure why they are including less now for more money but I guess that's the way it goes. Fortunately the charging cords that came with our DSI XL systems work with these systems so we didn't have to buy new ones, but we did have to buy 2 for the kids systems so we each have our own cord. I just can't believe for the price they don't include a cord, it's such a cheap part and you can probably get it for less than $10 when you catch it on sale on Amazon. I paid around $15 when I bought them for the kids.

As for the systems that I purchased, both were flawless. I purposely picked the 2 I purchased based on the notes and neither system had notes regarding damage or scratches. Both systems needed to be updated before being able to go online, one system that was listed as like new was on 11.0 and the other that was very good was on 11.2. Updating was painless and now the game catalogue from the eshop is available. Only the system that came with 11.0 had the included game on it. No big deal for me.
I'm happy with my purchase, and even happier to have bought them a few weeks ago before the price went up by more than $20 each.
I also own a PS Vita, and to me there is just no comparison. The 3ds is miles better imo.
Pros of the 3ds vs the vita:
Uses a standard micro sd card
Larger catalogue of games (more fun games in general)
New games are still being made and released for the 3ds
Multiplayer (local and online) is better
Has 3d that works well enough and is easy to turn off
I seem to get better battery life on my 3ds
Cons of the 3ds vs vita
Vita has higher res screen
Vita has better graphics
Vita can be used to play games remotely for ps3 & ps4
Hopefully this system will be enjoyed by the people they are gifted to as much as I enjoy it.

I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone looking for a portable game device, especially if you're a fan of Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and Final Fantasy :)
One thing other reviewers didn't warn me about, that I will share with you, is the half-hour exercise of signing up for an account so that I could download a free YouTube app. There was also a hidden nominal credit card charge in there as part of their verification. Really, this is a shameless cash grab and harvesting of personal information that was 30 minutes of my life I won't get back! And, I type quickly. Be warned - set aside time for this. It isn't an out-the-door activity.
