Yes, it's 480p. So what?

When I played Zelda pre-component cable, it looked good. There's no point here in comparing to the XBOX 360 or PS3, because they aren't TRYING to do HD...

However, when I put the component cables on, I noted an immediate improvement in the detailing of the game. It's not true HD, but it definately improves what you see when you are on a HD TV. I would recommend this to anyone.

I recently upgraded my TV to an HDTV and was extremely disappointed in the quality of the picture of the Nintendo Wii coming in via the standard RCA composite cables- Because an HDTV is essentially progressive technology, a composite SD signal is de-interlaced by the TV. This basically means that half the resolution (which is analog SD to begin with) is removed from the picture and it is up to the TV to "rebuild" the bits of missing picture... which it's not so great at.

The result is a softened picture with spots of bad (unsmooth) motion and additionally, this process takes a bit of time so there is a hair of a delay... this isn't a problem for most video, but since it's a video game system, you need the responsiveness of your actions to be immediately reflected on screen! Playing a game with a delay in the picture feels like fixing a watch with gardening gloves on.

The component cable sends a Progressive image that, while still Standard Definition, doesn't require the de-interlace process, which makes a TON of difference. Colors are more vibrant, the image is crisper and the delay is gone completely! Motion is smooth and precise. This cable is usually found for more then $30 or $40, but I was able to find it on Amazon via a 3rd party vendor for less then $5 (plus shipping) - a great deal.

Get this if you have a Wii and an HDTV... you NEED it.

Fantastic Value. Does exactly what it should. The plastic/rubber of the cables is slightly sticky feeling which is mildly annoying as I need to switch this with my DVD cables relatively often but there is no cheaper way to get component from the Wii.

Why pay $20-$30 for the same cable? This cable works just as well; I had an expensive cable and then bought this one. The results: same high quality picture and sound. The other cable went back to the store and I saved over $20.

delivered in a timely fashion, this cable provides a noticeable difference over the composite cable that comes standard with the wii. I can't see where paying any more for a cable will make any more difference. the Wii is in a noisy environment and there is no signal degradation with this cable.

Install was easy and straightforward and it worked right away with no issues. Just remember to go into your system setting on your Wii and upgrade the output to 480p to take advantage of the cable.

This is a nice replacement cable. I was concerned that the Wii plug fit might be a little off but it was an exact replacement for the old composite Wii cable. The only issue I had was that the cable is not marked like the one in the picture. The right and left audio cables in the photo are clearly distinguished from the component RCA cables. If you take a look they have the color on the ends of the plugs while the audio has the color on the middle of the plug. Well my cable was all marked on the ends. There was no differentiation in the color coding. Also the reds used in the color coding was the same rather than the audio being red and the video being more of an orangey red. This was problematic when I first turned it on. My tv's colors were off when I turned it on. Well, thank God I thought to check how I plugged my red cables in. Sure enough I had my right audio cable plugged into the red component jack. A simple changing of the plugs and all is as it should have been. Great picture with this simple but great product!

I bought this as an upgrade to the standard av cable supplied with Wii. Although the connections were easy, the video quality is not as good as the standard cable (horizontal lines pulsating on the screen) and the audio buzzes unbearably. I changed settings within Wii to look for something that would make the cable acceptable and also tried another component input on my Panasonic Viera HD TV but nothing helped.

From the many other positive reviews, mine may be a lemon but it doesn't work properly and I would advise caution for other shoppers.
