The controller is very light, and gets an insane amount of battery life. Hooked up to my PC via a bluetooth adapter I'm ranging anywhere from 40-50 hours on a single charge cycle, which is absolutely amazing. Make sure to use the Toshiba bluetooth stack.
The controller I purchased here is absolutely authentic, and simply the Japanese release of the controller. After viewing youtube and japanese search engines I'm content to say that this is the real deal and not a counterfeit.
Also, one of the most important things for me as someone who plays 2d platformers is the d-pad. The d-pad here is excellent, and very faithful to classic Nintendo fashion.
Easily one of the better wireless controllers on the market. I almost forgot to mention: The triggers here are digital, and not analog. I've grown absolutely frustrated with analog triggers due to their uselessness outside of racing games. Nintendo doesn't include them, and it makes the controller that much better - The triggers here do what I want, which is a quick, simple command engagement. I wish other companies would do this, or at least make it an option when purchasing additional controllers. I am not alone in wanting digital triggers - In most games analog triggers simply seem to get in the way more than anything else.
Something that does confuse me is that it requires its own charger (included). It would have been great if the Wii U's tablet charger was compatible with this controller, and if the PRO controller's charger worked with the tablet. It creates more cable messes than necessary, but it's nonissue since the PRO's battery life is spectacular.
This is a great controller. You can definitely get away with just using the Wii U tablet gamepad, but the PRO delivers a very succinct, sophisticated, and comfortable gamepad experience.
Quite simply, ridiculously good. EXTREMELY precise dpad, responsive face buttons, built like a tank, and wih an amazing battery life.
Seriously, the best dpad out there. The ps3 d-pad is terrible, and the 360's is nowhere near as precise or fast in response.
Paired with a mayflash usb adapter, it is the best controller you can possibly get for PC use.
Extremely comfortable, too!
There are only two downsides I see to it, a) The glossy face is a finger grease magnet. It looks gross after just a couple hours of use
b) The buttons and triggers are not analogue.
Other than those two details, it is by far the best dual stick pad I have ever used.
If you have a Wii U, I totally recommend it. Just don't spend more than $50 on one... I've seen some sellers on Amazon trying to sell the USDM version for ~$60.
