Once the wiiU was all setup at like 10:00pm we finally played some quality games we'd expect from Nintendo. We played Super Mario World 3D which came with the bundle and it was top notch. Co-op is done very well, and the graphics looked great (1080p). Nintendo land was okay, some fun mini games that show off the wiiU features. The ghost hunting game was our personal favorite.
The wiiU is small, it's slightly longer than a Full size external hard drive enclosure. Looks nice and the black finish is shiny. The wiiU Pad is light for the size and fits well in your hands, the battery lasts about 5-6 hours. The touch screen isn't capacitive touch like modern smartphones but it does its job well for it's purpose. The controls are top notch like you'd expect from Nintendo. The boot-up time is faster than the PS4 or Xbox One.
Looks very similar to the original wii interface but with some slight improvements. The mii screen that plays on the tv or switched to the game pad that displays a circle of random games and mii's running around is pointless. I'm not sure what Nintendo was trying to do here. The actual icon interface is very similar to an old IOS interface where you can store games in folders and change pages if you desire.
There's not many 3rd party games, if you want to play Nintendo games and own a Playstation 4 or Xbox One I recommend it. There's about 5 or 6 great Nintendo games (about a 9.0) for the wiiU and hopefully the new Zelda (maybe releasing in 2016) but that's about it. I really like Nintendo's games so it was worth the $300 purchase for us, but I wont be playing any 3rd party games on it, i'll leave that to the big boy consoles.
Great console for the casual gamer. Hardcore gamers - Probably not for you. its a Nintendo box, so You'll only find your Mario, Zelda, etc. here!
EDIT: After two uses (4 days) the charger for the game pad completely stopped working.
Setup was simple, the two games already installed on the hard drive. I also added an external 500gb hard drive to it. Super Mario Bros 3D is an excellent game! Sometimes even hard and challenging. I gave up on the Nintendo Land because the Control Pad kept losing connection with the Wii U.. Which I can't figure out, since I was less then 1 foot from the Wii U.
All in all the system had a good feel to it, everything worked and looked great. Graphics were good, and it was nice finally playing a Nintendo game in HD.
The only thing I would have to warn, is on the eShop. Watch what you buy, because some of it, just isn't worth the $4.99 or more. Example: I bought Donkey Kong Country, the graphics are HORID, doesn't look anything like the SNES version at all, the game is full of pixelation and LAG!
Well, as I said, it's worth the $291.99 and I've already ordered more games and accessories for it! I am now off to go PLAY my WII U!
