For years I've been buying Nips at Publix (list price = $1.29/box or 2-for-$2.) Well, the last time I was in there I strolled up to where the Nips usually are and found a red tag that read "CLEARANCE - WHILE SUPPLIES LAST" sitting in front of an empty shelf. A quiet panic ensued. Hoping this was a clerical mistake, I went to the service desk and asked them to double-check. The store manager eventually came out and said: "According to our system, this product is on clearance because the manufacturer has discontinued it." I thought I might have heard him wrong, so I asked if he could clarify what that meant, and he replied: "Um. They aren't making it anymore." Things got blurry and I'm not real sure what happened after that - but somehow I ended up outside the store, running around looking for a wifi connection. Within about 3 minutes I opened the Amazon iPhone app, located Coffee Nips, realized the stupid manager and his system were wrong, ordered a few cases, and then went back to grocery shopping. Conniption prevented.
DON'T BITE even slightly WITH YOUR TEETH, resist at all costs.
I was looking for a caramel treat that couldn't be eaten fast... another piece, another piece and then another. This fits the bill, because you will become AFRAID TO EAT ANOTHER PIECE, BECAUSE IT IS SO GOOD, LIKE BITING A TOOTSIE POP HALF WAY THROUGH, ONLY a tootsie pop isn't dangerous.
Well, I heeded the warnings not to bite...CAUTION...DO NOT BECOME preoccupied or DISTRACTED BY something, because these stick to your teeth bigtime if you are not constantly thinking...just suck, just suck it, just suck it, resist no matter how small it gets AND remember if it does get stuck, don't pull it off, suck it off or you will have huge dentist bills and miss work.
I have not been able to find NIPS at any other store in this huge city I live in. Except at the CVS stores. If you don't have that store in your area, it would be helpful to share where you have seen it in your area. I don't know why more stores do not sell it since it is very popular.
UPDATE on Dec 16: I just hit the sale on time it seems. The price has been reducted to what I paid for it when I wrote the note above. It is again at $11.70 for 12 boxes of 4 ounces each - just under one dollar a box. In case you haven't tried these, there are 16 pieces of candy in a box. I'm going to place another order now. I stop by here now and then and at times it is as much as 3 to 4 times the price it is now! That is just too expensive, no matter how much I love this candy.
I love love love Nips and this pack of 12 was a decent buy. The candy was/is the real thing (really are Nips Coffee).
Seller was prompt and the box was secure.
If you've never had a Nip (especially the Coffee or even the Caramel flavor), try them. They are soo darned good.
Please keep carrying them.

I just opened this gift for my friend and there are 6 empty candy boxes with torn outer wrappers, one completely missing and 5 that I am scared to give to her. Read morePublished 27 days ago by Marianna
Love these. A tiny bit more expensive than buying at the drug store but its hard to find the peanut butter flavor. Very happy with this purchase.Published 1 month ago by Dubs shops 71
LOVE THESE CANDIES! They aren't truly "hard" candies, but are slightly tacky and become a bit more tacky and they dissolve in your mouth. Read morePublished 2 months ago by waycross48
For some reason they felt a little stake to me. After I sucked on them for awhile though the flavors came through. It's a good combination.Published 3 months ago by Gramgarcia
I remember this candy having a wonderfully rich coffee flavor in the distant past. Unfortunately, Coffee Nips have a rather synthetic taste now with only a small hint of coffee. Read morePublished 3 months ago by CJS123
