If we go back even more, the fleshy body isn't there, just bone and sinews, and go back further, we are molecules, and go back further still, we are empty space.
So go back to the inner essence of things. Looking out into the world is the false reality. The truth is within. It is just that people mistake the amazing technology we all enjoy as the essence of who we are. But it is an illusion.
It is the technology which is the illusion, which hides the inner essence of things. Go back from the fleshy body, and the empty space is the stars and it is you and will be there after you body rots and the world ends. This is the fundamental view of advaita. But we must go back.
Modern technology moves outwards into a Matrix. One day, people will forget about their fleshy bodies as they get hooked up to Google-Selfie (TM). Advaita teaches that this forgetting happened thousands of years ago.
The way our future grandchildren, hooked up as it where, will forget that they are a body, rather than the techno-selfie, well advaita argues that we have forgotten that we are not the fleshy body.
The advaita sages argue that this fleshy body isn't the essence, even though the majority of people believe it is. The body is also the illusion. But like the example of this writing on the screen being mistaken for who we are, well according to the sages, we mistake our body for who we are. This is why they say, 'Go back'!
