If you absolutely want to be seen, this is the light for you!
However, its quality leaves something to be desired. In less then 3 months, the lights would not turn on properly. A press on the switch would not turn the lights on instead you need to press and hold it, starts blinking in strobe mode, then press again to cycle low - mid - high settings. This is obviously not how it is suppose to behave. Another issue was the wires started to split at the corners. I could see exposed wires inside. The splits are not large but it is definitely noticeable.
All these issues are solved with their excellent technical support. Send the lights in, and they send it back to you repaired. Of course i will only have to pay for the shipping charge to their office and not back. I gave it one additional stars for their great support and i personally would still purchase another set of lights from them just because their support team actually respond to you when you send them an enquiry and most important of all, they fix the problem.
This system looked very small when I first unpacked it; they didn't look like they were going to be as bright as they are. I charged the unit, slapped them on my bike and rode into the darkness. My first thought? WOW, these things are awesome! Really. I've been cycling for over 15 years and wasted my money trying to save money by buying less expensive lights, which ended up to light the road poorly. I highly reccomend the NiteRider MiNewtX2. They stay on the handle bars true, they dont move around, they are easiy to transfer from bike to bike and mount in seconds.
I started to commute by bike to work about 6 months ago. It is 8 miles each way on an unlighted
bike trail. After Daylight Savings Time ended last fall, it became impossible to ride without a
light. At first, I used my trusted Petzl LED headlight which I consider to very bright (rated at
about 50 lumen). However, It was impossible to ride at speeds higher than about 8 mph since I
just could not see far enough. After a few close calls I decided I needed something better.
After some research I chose the NiteRider MiNewt X2 dual.
The lights are very professionally made in water resistant metal housing with very substantially
looking cables. They attach to the handle bars with very simple but effective O-rings which are
provided in different sizes. The battery can be mounted elsewhere with the included velcro
When I turned the lights on for the first time it was the famous "WOW" effect because I could
not believe how bright they were. Even at 15-20 mph visibility was excellent. To have two light
sources improves the depht perception significantly and reduces dark shadows. The 'stacking' of
the lights to increase reach works very well.
Almost every day I get comments from people "Wow - great lights", "I thought a car was coming",
and so forth. The lights have a flashing mode which can be seen from a mile away. I can see the
reflection of the flashes on reflective road signs a half mile down the road.Read more ›
