I decided to buy this for my hamster after reading another reviewer mention how their hamster used one side for sleeping and one side for the bathroom (since their hamster didn't like to leave his hiding area during the day). I remembered a past hamster I had who would pee in her hiding area for the same reason. So, I purchased this and my current hamster sleeps on one side and uses the other as his litter box. It is wonderful that I don't have to dismantle his nest in order to clean up urine spots. It is very easy to just clean out the side he uses as a litter box every other day, and go a week or so between full cage changes since the rest of the cage stays pretty clean!
FYI, the lid is not connected to the box- but there are two little bumps which help hold it in place where you want it. I like to leave the lid lightly askew (but still sturdy in place) in order to vent the litter box side of the box, so it doesn't vent thru his "bedroom." I appreciate the flexibility to do this. (You can view how I have the lid slightly askew in my photo, the hiding box is partially hidden as I have it placed underneath the second floor of my hamsters cage.)
Keep in mind it is large and can take up decent space in your cage, but if you have the minimum recommended cage size for a Syrian hamster it works. I highly recommend this product in order to potentially greatly improve the cleanliness of your hamster and their cage!

I bought the larger one, sized for Syrian's, and it is perfectly sized for a Syrian. Our shy boy, would pee in his nest during daytime hours, as he does not leave his hidey during daytime. I would feel terrible everytime i cleaned out his nest & food stash, every time I needed to spot clean the urine areas out. With this hidey, I was able to put a small sandbox in one room, so that our hamster felt safe to use the sandbox for his potty during daytime hours. I put this hidey in, and he has settled in perfectly, and right away started using the sandbox to pee in during daytime hours. Yay for not having to destroy his nest, in order to clean out soiled/urine!!! And, it's easy for me to lift up the cover, so I can clean out his sandbox. A++ for thoughtful design on this hidey!!

Mostly good but fragile corners

Had to return the first for being damaged beyond repair. This second one was still broken, see picture. Overall another good product from Niteangel minus this issue. Wish it would come with a base for glass cages. The roof overhangs the sides a bit not allowing it to sit flush in corners.

I originally had a blue plastic igloo for my Syrian hamster Sprinkles. I decided to upgrade to this. Got the 2 chamber. When I did the switch I was worried he would stress since his little bed burrow was gone but nope. Put this in the same spot and he didn't even stop to sniff just walked right in and went to sleep lol now I have a hard time trying to coax him out. He loves it so much. He sleeps in the back chamber I'm guessing to get even further away from me ha. Anyway I tried luring him out with some seeds but this is the best pic I could get
