Actually bought this to sit inside a pumpkin for Halloween in place of a candle. It provides more than enough light to see the lightly etched face of the gourd and doesn't leave any messy candle smoke residue. I placed it on a small square metal plate to hold it upright; the magnet on the light attached well.

This is a "lipstick" style light; the cover retracts into the light body when not in use, making it not much larger than the AA battery it uses. You switch it on and off via twisting the base about 45 degrees; I don't see how this could be turned on accidentally. The cover can be set to any length to trim the amount of light you get out. In a dark room, it provides more than enough light to get around the room without stubbing any toes. Outside, it will light your path nicely with its wide coverage; using it retracted works even better.

This is no substitute for a regular 135 lumen flashlight as the light gets muted a little by the cover and it certainly doesn't have the reach of a normal flashlight, but it's still a good general purpose light for camping or blackouts.

In addition to the magnetic base, it also comes with a lanyard and the AA battery. This version also included a small battery case that will hold four AA or AAA batteries, very useful for travel or in your camera bag.

Overall, pleased with the purchase.

Bought this for the magnetic aspect to use when I’m working under my car. The ability to just stick the lantern onto any metal was too good to pass up. It’s done that job flawlessly, but also is my go to when the power goes out. A candle or even a flashlight do not do NEAR the same job this lantern does. And the 1 single AA lasts hours. You may lose strength over time, but you always have light. The light also alerts you to this by not allowing all the options to be selected. I just bought a 2nd one to have as a spare. These are WELL worth it

I travel a lot and wanted something small to store in my luggage in case of emergencies such as power failure. This is perfect! Takes a common AA battery. Twists off, which eliminates battery drain in storage. Can be used as a regular flashlight in a pinch, but isn't ideal for that. Sits upright on a table perfectly in "lamp mode", which is more it's intended purpose. Lights up an average room just enough to get around. It was the best compromise I found while still checking all my boxes and easily worth the more than fair price.

More surprisingly, the bonus battery case is actually sturdy and functional. I'll use it to store spare batteries in my suitcase.

They reached out to me about how to fix my issue with the lack of strength coming from the light.
I'd like to leave this review to clarify that (now knowing of its adjustability) this torch light is a very versatile, handy, smart, and useful product.
I work in photography and filmmaking and this product is a fun little thing to play with as either practicals or on the fly light solutions with a lot of room to play around with surreal lighting.
Besides this aspect, I've taken it to camping and works very well and the fact that it runs on a single AA battery is key.
You must get a little creative as to how you rig this thing up so that it doesn't blind you during its use, but overall I'm happy with this purchase.
