Good materials, however, can be found in many high-end flashlight brands. What really separates the SRT7 from all the others is the colored L.E.D's and the smart ring user interface. Rather than tightening or loosening the head or messing around with the clicky switch, all of the modes are accessed from a ring which is turned right or left. Each mode sets into place with a satisfying "Click" In addition you can customize just how much light you need from 0 to an impressive 960 lumens.
The colored L.E.D's are sometimes an object of ridicule. The SRT7 has three of them which actually can make the colors useful instead of being some useless novelty feature. There are apparently of wide variety of uses for the colors but I'll list some of the more common ones.
Red: conservation of night vision while maintaining a low profile.
Blue: fluid detection & looking into water
Green: reading & verifying documents
The SRT7 also has a "police light" mode that looks very similar to the flashing lights of a police car. This could be used as both a deterrent for mischief and a tool to scare your friends half to death :P BE CAREFUL how you use this feature though as I'm sure you could get into trouble if you abuse it. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they removed this feature in the future due to improper use, but hey, for now it is what it is.
I own many high end flashlights including: Fenix, Eagletac, Streamlight & Pelican. I can say without a doubt, the Nitecore SRT7 beats them all, not necessarily in materials or construction, but definitely in versatility and User Interface. I actually bought two of them. I keep one in the house and one attached to my EDC bag that I keep in my car. That way, I'm never far away from one if I need it!

I have Retinitis Pigmentosa and my version of this
vvision impairment is helped A LOT if I have lots
of light in the right places.
At first, the price made me hesitate but now that
it is in hand, I recommend this light without hesitation.
I look after my stuff, I hope this light responds
well to careful handling. Oh yes, it comes with a
nifty holster and a couple spare parts such as O rings
and rubber switch cover.
One thing to take note of for people who care about it, I measured the LED's colour temperature at 6800K at max output.
I gave 400 lumen flashlights to all my families - ex's, kids and grand kids, which are very bright. This is 960 lumens which is extremely bright, like a flood light that can light up signage and objects from a very far distance when compared to conventional thoughts of flashlights and spots. Don't waste your $ on "big store" LED flashlights - they sell weak, poorly made "LED" lights that are only in their store to confuse you and waste your money. The secondary colored LEDs are bright enough alone, do not look at any LED directly no matter how small or low intensity you think it is. Use the included strap-over-lens holster to keep the lens clean and scratch free especially in tool boxers or active nap sacks.
Size wise it's a bit big for EDC but small enough to put on belt or pack for frequent use
Battery life is great especially using it on low power. It's my go to flashlight
