- Find physical paint matches and digital color codes (sRGB, CMYK, CIELAB, HEX, LCH(ab), LRV, and Hue)
- Color Accuracy - Note that colors shown on-screen may not precisely represent actual paint or digital colors due to variances in display calibrations. color scans are affected by uneven surfaces, multicolored patterns, metallic surfaces, pearls, high gloss and ambient light. For best results, keep the Mini 2 flush and scan matte samples with the gloss coating removed. To confirm colors, you may bring the paint name and numbers to your local paint retailer for physical sample comparison.
- Bluetooth Connection and Charging - Note that recent android updates require users to turn on location services for Nix Apps in order for Bluetooth connection to function properly. To avoid charging issues, only use 1-amp charging adapters or USB powered connections with the Nix Mini 2 Color Sensor, do not use fast charging power adapters

From the brand

Nix Sensor in the beginning
With Nix, professionals who work with color are empowered with fast, reliable accuracy. Fan decks and eyeballing color are no more.
-
The idea for Nix came in the form of a question: why are interior designers still carrying around tote bags filled with heavy fan decks and swatch books from individual brands? Why were professionals still eyeballing color?
After our initial funding and countless prototypes later, the final Nix prototype was born. It was through our successful Kickstarter campaign that we were able to fund the production of the first Nix Color Sensor.

More accuracy will cost a lot more so Iโm happy with the level this unit provides.
First, the biggest issue I have run into is that when you are using this as a tool to do touchups, you don't really care whose paint library you are using. You only care that the color is as close as possible. And when I've been at the paint counter, hardware stores seem to have no difficulty translating paint codes from manufacturers they don't sell. The Nix software, for whatever reason (memory limitations? licensing restrictions?), does not support searching across libraries. Which means your "nearest match" process might be done several times.
Second, this sensor really struggles with reflective surfaces. When you are trying to match a paint to some shiny non-paint object, the Nix kicks out samples that don't look very close to where you started. I can only attribute this to glare (or flare) inside the unit.
Finally, where you are matching to a multicolored object (say a flashed brick or a patterned fabric), it would be nice to have an averaging feature to capture any bias from particular placement of the sensor. Averaging might also be helpful for matching single-color paint - because the presence of room light can have a small but real effect on what the sensor returns (in other words, the sensor is not totally light-tight, it would seem).
The app (Nix Paints) also needs some work. You have to choose "color libraries" which are mainly just mainstream paint companies like Behr, Benjamin Moore, ColourFal, Valspar, (Home Depot) DoIt Best, etc. The paint libraries are all house-paint based. You can also only select a few libraries once you connect your Nix to the app. So when you are scanning a color it's only searching the selected libraries and not all libraries the app has access to. If the library part was removed and all colors were searched when a color is scanned, that would be nice. There's also a part of the app for "Digital Color Values" but that part of the App has been broken since I bought this Nix months ago. If you try to access that part of the App you'll land on a screen from Google Play that says "Something went wrong, Try again". You can try all you want but it doesn't look like that part of the App has been built out. Digital color values is one of the main things I was going for when I bought this and that doesn't even work.
I would not buy this again (mom said the same thing!).
