This was a cute story of two people coming back from the mistakes they have made in the past. Both Dax and Ava are trying to become better people. Dax has a past he is not proud of at all and feels like he really doesn't belong or good enough for the people around him now, especially Ava. Ava is going to school to better herself for her and her son. Both Dax and Ava fight the attraction they feel for each other, but once the spark is ignited they can't go back. These two were awesome together, I really enjoyed reading their story. i really hope the other characters get their own books. I like this series and the characters in each one.
Review done by Cat for Cat's Guilty Pleasure
Ava is a single mother trying to get her life on track. She was hurt once by someone and doesn't want that to happen again
Dax is a reformed bad boy trying to move on from his past. In order to stay focused on the future he keeps himself closed off.
This was a great story. I loved the fact that their relationship was not a conventional one. It's what made the book so good an believable. Dax and Ava were a perfect couple because they were able to thaw out each other's frozen heart.
My only critique is that the story ended too abruptly. I wanted more. Five stars
Ava is Lucas’ little sister. She just started at the college, but she only lives there part-time because of Noah, her five-year-old son. She had him when she was sixteen.
Dax is Andie’s older brother. He is a reformed bad boy, to an extent. He wants to be better and he’s honestly trying. He’s attracted to Ava but he doesn’t think he is worthy of her because of his past.
“We all have things in the past we aren’t proud of. Things we feel shame over. Things no one knows. At some point, wouldn’t it be nice to know theres one person who knows everything and is still there for you? Whether it’s a friend or a lover, it doesn’t matter.”
Ava has a no bad boy rule. But for Dax, she would break that rule.
Their relationship moves very fast, but it works for them. I did like both Ava and Dax. Ava is a great mom.
Review from Abibliophobia Anonymous Book Reviews
Book 2 in the Rule Series by Ashley Erin, and I have to say I enjoyed this book more than the first one, and I thought that would be a near impossibility as I fell in love with every aspect of that book.
In book 2, the storyline is about Dax and Ava, who are the siblings of Andie and Lucas from book 1.
Both have had troubled adolescent years, one falling onto the wrong side of the tracks, the other having to grow up fast and take on adult responsibilities.
Dax and Ava are just brilliant together. Reading their story had me feeling every emotion.
I laughed, I held my breath, I cried and I even had a moment of disappointment.
Ashley is not an author who shies away from a confronting storyline. The conflict, self doubt and then growth of her characters are realistic, and as an avid reader I appreciate the real life element she seamlessly brings to her readers.
I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this book, from the two strong main characters to the absolutely brilliant minor characters who all deserve their own stories and HEA's.
Bring on book 3!!!
