For those of us living in serious Asia (Japan, Korea, and Taiwan), spending vacations in magical Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, Bali) and sometimes Hawaii, was the dream. I did not follow that dream – I was caught by other lures – so I was always envious of Coop and my other friends that did. Fortunately, the stories he sent back over the decades sustained the rest of us.
I'm so glad Dai Sensei Earl Cooper has finally put all his stories together in a book. I had been reading these stories for over 30 years and always thought to myself, "Coop ought to put them in a book someday" and here it is. And the book versions are even better than the email versions. His passion for writing, incessant gathering of stories, and good editing have made this one of the best travel books I have ever read, up there with Pico Iyer’s Video Night in Kathmandu.
For those who love travel and want to keep precious memories of all the things they have done and never done, read this book.
