About the Author
Jonathan Roche is the Founder of Breakthrough Health & Wellness Solutions, Inc. He is a Certified Personal Trainer, an Award-Winning Fitness Expert, a 12-time Ironman Triathlon Finisher and an 18-time Boston Marathon Finisher (running 17 straight to raise funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute - where his Mom was treated). In 1995 Jonathan weighed 224 pounds and was working long hours at Fidelity Investments when his Dad (who struggled with his weight and was obese) died suddenly of cardia arrest. Jonathan then went on his own wellness journey, lost 44 pounds and ran his first Boston Marathon. Also it is VERY refreshing to read a book by an author that had his own health struggles and overcame them. Obviously he knows what he is sharing. I like knowing that Jonathan understands my frustrations, he knows all about the emotions and challenges that hit us when we struggle with our weight and health etc. and now it's obvious that he is an athlete and he truly "lives what he advises" in his book.
Jonathan's approach is straight-forward and easy to understand. He clearly outlines what you can do every day to crank up your energy and stay committed to making changes and taking care of yourself.
This book has been a game changer for me. It's inspirational. Uplifting. And a great "gift book" for friends and family that have the same struggles that I do.
Thanks to the tools I learned from this book, for the first time I understand why I've failed at weight-loss in the past. I am silencing my negative voice and actually taking control of my future and health. I am dropping the excuses. I feel empowered and energized.
I've purchased many books about dieting and losing weight and this is the first one that actually showed me how to turn things around and achieve results. I'm throwing away the other books and sticking to this one.
I like the no-nonsense no excuse approach and guidelines. I like the focus on silencing that doubting harshest critic, that negative voice. I like that there is a section devoted to moms. Many of us put such a tremendous focus on our kids and are afraid of robbing time with them to take care of ourselves. Jonathan is dialed in and all the excuses or things holding parents back are addressed. I ran some of the parent section by a friend of mine yesterday and she totally could relate. I am hoping to motivate her more into carving out 10 minutes at home for herself. See! This book is so positive it makes me want to help other people in any way I can. It also helps me cull out negative people and to understand the motive behind that doubting cousin, aunt or uncle who always have something negative to say when they start seeing progress.
This book doesn't demand perfection making it easier to achieve incremental lasting multisided steps toward health. It is compassionate without excuses. I like that approach!!!
