Editorial Reviews

No Fairy Tale is Lisa Loeb's first rock album in 8 years. Co-Produced by New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert and Lisa herself, the album features Loeb's brand of quirky lyrics and rollicking guitar licks. With the help of Gilbert and engineer Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair), Loeb has taken her songcraft to a new level balancing a professional sound with a more spontaneous imperfect energy which reflects the snappier production schedule instilled by Gilbert. No Fairy Tale contains 12 brand new tracks including the title track & first single along with 2 songs written by acclaimed Canadian rock duo Tegan and Sara.

A new, great sound for Lisa. Poppy, punky - definitely different from her other songs, but a refreshing change of pace. I went to see her on the "No Fairy Tale" tour, where she played songs from Purple Tape/CD all the way up to this release, and it was so great to hear the progression of her songwriting since then and be able to appreciate all of her work. An awesome CD, highly recommended to new and old fans alike!

As always, Lisa's music is a breath of fresh air. Someone once said (and I believe I read it from a review on Amazon) She is the record industries best kept secret. Yes this album has a little more edge to it than the previous ones, but as far as I'm concerened, she is growing. There are still nice harmonies as well as great lyrics and some nice guitar playing. I might offend someone here but, to anyone who doesn't like it, I guess she might as well put out Firecracker Pt.2 or son of Cake and Pie. I just hope we won't have to wait 8 years for the next one.

I have enjoyed most of Lisa Loeb's music for many years but had not heard anything new come along for quite awhile. While perusing upcoming new releases I saw this new CD so waited until release then sampled the MP3 version. I liked what I heard so ordered the CD and have not been disappointed. This is classic Lisa and very good.

At first listen, I was a little shocked. As a long time Lisa fan, this is a major departure from her previous albums. The overall pace of the songs is fast, fast, fast.... Lisas largely acoustic albums typically have a slower paced sound with challenging guitar chords and thoughtful lyrics.
This album is NOT that....but I love it!!!
Very upbeat album, even if some of the song topics are not upbeat. Some highlights are "A Hot Minute" and "Matches"...These songs stand out with some beautiful melodies. With the input of Tegan and Sara and Chad Gilbert among others, this may be Lisa's best chance of a mainstream comeback.

I had the pleasure of seeing Lisa play while on tour for this album, amusingly with Nine Stories, though they are not directly listed on the album itself. I have loved Lisa Loeb since the 90's and it is amusing seeing her look back and make fun of that time in her life, while also crafting an album that is true to her songwriting.

Lisa is a great performer and a fabulous person to have an intelligent conversation about just nothing. I love anything she puts out.. I've met her twice and she is always making positive energy enter the room!

Lisa Loeb is one of the finest musicians out there. Her songs are original, insightful, discordant and melodious at the same time. I can spend hours listening to this stuff and never grow bored. Her music is simply awesome.
