No Filter has John Ginty expanding his songwriting skills to include deeper, darker themes, while still keeping the Hammond B- 3 at the forefront, and the Blues as the foundation. The record features stellar performances by Cris Jacobs, Alexis P. Suter, Jimmy Bennett, Cara Kelly, and a truly groundbreaking appearance by hip- hop legend Redman. Ginty is one of the most sought after organists in the world, and is following up his tremendously successful debut release, Bad News Travels .

The mood here is fairly dark and the themes range from tempting women ("Ball of Fire") to sad prison songs ("Annandale") to tough songs about not judging other people ("Old Shoes.") The music is blues with gospel, jazz and Southern rock elements. It is powerful and GInty's B-3 is particularly riveting.
"Old Shoes" is my favorite song (I love Alexis P. Suter and her highly unusual voice) but other favorites are "Rock 'n Roll Preacher" and the instrumental "Fredo." All of the songs and singers are strong and well worth hearing.
This one belongs in the collection of anyone interested in contemporary blues music.
If you like Blues, you should give this album (and all his other albums) a try. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
