I should have know that No Magic Moment wasn't gonna be ALL hearts, flowers and smooth sailing!!!
We started off with a couple that was happy, in love and as ever, hot heavy, down & dirty in the bedroom (car, lounge, you get the idea!! ~ gods, Angel and Victoria can write one helluva knicker melting sex scene!)
After everything that happened in the previous book that lead to the pair getting together they were still getting to know each other fully outside of the bedroom and there were still some secrets and truths that were hidden away. Michael's past comes back to haunt them in a way no-one ever expected and this pushes our hero to make decisions affecting him and Mare-Bear that could end up nearly destroying them both!
I was so bloody mad at Mr Pearson for a fair bit of the book as his actions, although coming from where he thought was a safe and sensible place, were thoughtless, heartbreaking and selfish....
What did surprise me was Ms Asher's determination to not let the man she loved suffer on his own - though there comes a point where she does have to wonder if the one you are looking out for cares enough for her to let her in and help them or if she should give up and walk away....
We caught up with Claire and Killian (I really need to go back and read their books....) and saw how things were going for these love-birds. Andre, Marg's driver, was once again present throughout the book with his trademark humour and snark - he has become a favourite supporting character of mine.
One of the things I really enjoyed about 'No Magic Moment' was watching Margaux begin to open up, reach out and connect with her friends and family and to rely on them when things weren't going so well. She also began to trust and believe in herself - a big deal when you consider what her dragon of a mother had done to her over the years - but also a step she needed to take if she and Michael could have any kind of future together.
I read this fabulous book in pretty much one sitting - a lot of that through the night - I couldn't put the kindle down as I was desperate to see where things were gonna go and how they would pan out for our red hot lovers.
There's a couple of surprises in the later part of the story that were really nice - though if I'm gonna be really honest, one or two things happened that I would have liked more of an answer or explanation to but it wasn't something that detracted from my enjoyment of the book
'No Magic Moment' was a ride - it was hot, sensual and sweet with some intrigue and mystery in the mix. The continuation of Michael and Mary's story made me laugh, saw me cry, had my heart in my mouth and dread in the pit of my stomach at times but I loved every single minute of it!!
A cracker of a read that I have no hesitation in giving 5 well deserved stars....
In the last book, No Perfect Princess, we learned what Margaux’s secrets were. Michael learned what her secrets were. However, she had yet to learn his. As I started it, I looked forward to the classic Margaux-style no-bull**** reaction and was not disappointed. As much as I hated her in the first book in this series, she is now my favorite heroine because of the combination of brashness, vulnerability, and persistence. In her vulnerable moments and her frustration with herself, I couldn’t help but chuckle. I can see some of myself in her. I can see Margaux and I getting into trouble together. We’d probably end up making a lot of people cry. Or run. What I loved most about her in No Magic Moment was her persistence. She knew what was right and fought for it even as her heart was breaking. I wanted to knock Michael out.
As for Michael…<sigh>…as much as I wanted to knock him out, I could understand where he was coming from. I’ve made the same mistake a time or two. He, however, was lucky enough to have found someone willing to fight. Though misguided, it took an amazing amount of love to do what he did. I’m just happy it all turned out for the best.
This book is I-need-a-cold-shower-now HOT! If you haven’t read this yet, keep this in mind: mid-century school desk! A certain person in my life was very inspired by this scene. And that’s an understatement.
Angel and Victoria, thank you for yet another rollercoaster! I don’t know why you two insist on making me cry! But seriously, I absolutely loved No Magic Moment! The ending made me bootyshake with glee!!!!!
Is love enough to change a person’s soul, or will our magic become a forgotten moment for us both?
This book is FANTASTIC! Their relationship is building, but they're both hiding their own secrets..... their own demons. Marguax knows that Michael is hiding some major issues, but he's constantly deflecting her questions. But the past has a way of not staying buried - and it comes back to Michael with a vengeance. Their love is tested, the truth is questioned and the strength of each of them is pushed almost to the point of breaking. Michael has to learn to trust his heart and Margaux, while she has to come face-to-face with who she really is.
Angel and Victoria as a writing team are top-notch. They play off one another so well. The sex is off the charts, the banter is awesome and I couldn't stop reading! I giggled, I cried, I yelled, I wanted to send a few 'back of the head slaps', but in the end.... "Yeah. Magic."
