Editorial Reviews

This highly informative book offers readers an engaging introduction to the rise of scientific and alternative medicine. It provides an excellent overview of the biology of infectious diseases as well as the history of the anti-vaccination movement. More importantly, it simply and clearly describes the theory of herd immunity and the success of disease-eradication campaigns. The book contains a wealth of information about the vaccine-preventable diseases and about the minimal risks and great benefits of vaccination.
--Tara Ann Cartwright, PhD, American Medical Writers Association Journal

From the Author

We need to change the kinds of conversations that we are having about vaccinations. Many people have been persuaded that vaccine policy is being driven by the business plans of pharmaceutical companies, instead of by public health concerns. The best way to disprove this notion is to eradicate the vaccine-preventable diseases. Once a disease is extinct, we can stop vaccinating anyone against it. As a result, the sales of the vaccine will drop to zero overnight and we can stop exposing people to even the minimal risks associated with the vaccination. I wrote No More Measles! because I want people to recapture the spirit of the original struggle against polio, when poor people in the depths of the Great Depression reached into their nearly empty pockets and sent their dimes marching to Washington DC. In the 1970s, a global vaccination campaign drove smallpox into extinction. It was humanity's greatest achievement. Smallpox is gone. Polio is almost gone. Measles is next.
