Butrum writes a romance story so flawlessly. It’s a super sweet, romantic story. I loved Janelle. I could seriously relate to Janelle and her relationship with her mom. I don’t want to give a lot away but this book really opens the door for a great series. We meet some lovely characters and I hope we get all their stories!
This is a great story about families and how we do what we do for them. We get to see what it’s like to go back home again. We get to dream and hope right along with Janelle. She has so many dreams that she’s put to the side and coming home again brings everything back. I really felt Janelle’s emotional journey on this ride from not just the romantic side-point but trying to find herself and trying to follow her dreams.
Butrum writes a story that just feels real that it is so heart-warming. I haven’t even mentioned Colin yet but I really enjoyed him. He was a perfect mate for Janelle. He really helped Janelle find herself and grow stronger. Colin was fun and flirty. He seemed so playful and really brought a funnier side out in Janelle.
I can’t wait to get more from Christina Butrum. I’ve come to watch for her books and just plain devour them! If you haven’t read her yet this will be a great one to start with! It’s the start of a series so you can get to know everyone right from the beginning! I’d definitely recommend this read! It’s light, sweet with a bit of seriousness thrown in.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
Along with that conflict, there is a conflict between Janelle and Colin, a guy she was super competitive with in college. She's hoping when she goes back that she won't run into him again. He, of course, shows up in the bakery the very first day she takes it over. Sparks of anger fly. But then the sparks develop into something besides anger that even Janelle can't deny.
Janelle and Colin were really cute together. They both write for newspapers, they both bake (does anyone know of a man that would bake for me, please?) and Colin becomes her biggest support. He is behind her 100% and will help her in anyway he can. If only he could persuade her to stay after her parents come home! She is determined to go back to her other life, but then something happens that just might turn the tide. Is she brave enough to finally go after her dreams...and Colin?
I'm loving Christina Butrum's books. This is my third by her and I'm ready to buy the next when it comes out! Give her a try if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed!
This story is the perfect romance for those who love the tender side of love and could easily live with out the erotic aspect. Though I wouldn't say it is 100% pure, but it's definitely appropriate for most audiences that would be interested in romance.
The key thing I took from this story was that things in life can always change. Nothing and no one person is set in stone to stay the same forever. We live and we learn. We grow and develop and discover what life truly is about. The best kind of stories are the ones that show you something about life and I think Butrum did just that in this sweet story.
