You get a front and center seat to a more soft and vulnerable side of Phil in this book. You meet the man behind the rock God persona. There were moments I had to stop and breathe because Phil’s emotions were palpable and intense.
I was left completely breathless.
So much has happened after book 1 and as many of the NOLA Owns fans know it wasn’t an easy journey for our Phil & Kenna (NOTE: PLEASE READ BOOK 1, OVER THE HILLS AND FAR AWAY, FIRST. IT’S CRUCIAL TO THE STORY). They went through some rough patches and had their moments but at the end they came out strong. They discover the true self's of one another and their love grows, intensifying on every page.
Of course Kelli has to make sure that her readers suffer because let me tell you, that ending had me wanting to jump off the nearest bridge. Ugh!! She makes you feel and punches you with angst, and leaves you a sobbing mess! Mehhhh. So yes, people this one ends in a cliffhanger (BOOK 3 IS COMING OUT OCTOBER 2015! SPREAD THE WORD!!!)
What I loved most was being back with the gang and getting to see my boys; I consider myself a proud NOLA’s Junk groupie. There wasn’t a moment that didn’t have me laughing my bum off with their crazy antics.
This book by passes the spiritual and love connections. It’s cosmic. What Phil & Kenna have is deep and its fate. Destiny made sure they found one another and they have a connection that goes beyond anything I’ve read. Soul mates is the perfect word to describe these two amazing characters, but I feel it’s so much more than that.Read more ›
There’s a little drama, a lot of panty-blazing sex, and a belly full of laughs. It’s fun to watch these characters interact, having come so far since the beginning of the first book. It’s written so expressively you’ll feel embedded in their lives, smiling with them, sharing their fears, and clinging to their hopes, like you’re a member of this tight-knit group.
The story flows smoothly through their day-to-day lives. I wanted more conflict and tension, but it held my attention, making me smile from beginning to end. If you’re looking for a believable romance with deliciously hot scenes, I highly recommend this series.
What I loved:
*Told from a dual POV
*I love when an author can break you down and lift you back up within a couple pages
*Very easy story flow
*The originality of the story
*Phil. Who doesn't love a crazy alpha male?
*Kenna. Love the woman she's has grown to
*The secondary cast
*Most importantly- the love Phil and Kenna have for one another. That love is palpable throughout the story.
I wanted to address the fact that it's book 2 of 3. You definitely must read book 1 first and also don't worry this one doesn't end on a cliffy. ;)
Can't recommend this series enough! 4 Stars ♥
No Quarter is book 2 in a 3 book series, Nola’s Own. I became a fan of this author when book 1 ended. I was completely held captive by the beauty of the tale, by a love that was greater than the universe, but the fast/forever fall that took five years for fruition. Page after page an epic, taxing love story was created miles and years apart. It was no surprise that when the universe decided it was time for Kenna and Phil to finally be…well it would not be easy. During time apart, lives were lived for one another, even while trying to move on. This was a time where a Rock-star breathed heartache and a young girl moved forward in life always wandering “when.” The darkness and the heartbreak would not be easy to look past…a love shattered just as it started.
Could a love this epic truly be denied? I do not want to spoil anything in this amazing read as it would be such an injustice to those who take this journey. Instead I will attempt to display the beauty that Kelli Jean wrote and hopes that this read will touch you as it did me…
This series calls to the lovers of angst. It is long, deep and for many it may even come across as quite over the top. But for me, it is a love BEYOND simple. For Kenna ,”Phil had brought me to life, and I felt as though I was finally living,” and for Phil, “she f***'n’ unmans me. She strips me down to my fundamental core and shows me exactly what it means to be human.”
Phil and Kenna have no power to stop the force that is them.Read more ›
