"Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress"
Is the world really falling apart? Is the ideal of progress obsolete? Cognitive scientist and public intellectual Steven Pinker urges us to step back from the gory headlines and prophecies of doom, and instead, follow the data: In seventy-five jaw-dropping graphs, Pinker shows that life, health, prosperity, safety, peace, knowledge, and happiness are on the rise. This book exceeded my expectations. It was WONDERFUL. Had me on the edge all the way from start to wanting the next book.. now. It was so good.
Jake is such a good person as is his sweet son, Alex. This book brought out so many emotions in me. Fear, relief, love, and of course tears. Anytime someone dies it makes me cry. Unless it's one of the bad people of course.
This is more about Alex than anyone and he is sure a smart kid. He helps his new found friends just like his dad did and Jake would be so proud of him. He is so proud of him.
I honestly do not have enough words to describe how much I have loved and enjoyed this book and the series. I never thought I would read anything that had aliens, spaceships or anything like that, and like it. This book has it all. Action, adventure, terrorist, love, life, death and a few tears thrown in to dust the eyes. I absolutely LOVED it and can't wait for the next book
I had to give it 5 stars but it would be way more if I could.
Richard Bard has a wonderful talent and even though this series will come to an end I hope he writes something just as good next. Thank you for this awesome book. I received an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. It was just as good as I expected it to be and more!!
heart knowing this will be the last of the series. Really loved every book in the series but have to say that
my all time favorite was still book 1. So many impressive scenes such as the masquerade ball in Venice, the storming of the Afghan fortifications, the release of the power pyramid etc.I conveyed to Richard Bard that I felt that it would make a great film but then knowing Hollywood it probably would be a debacle.
Book 6 was a little different in that it more or less featured Alex (Jake's son). In reading it I was so impressed with his mature thinking for an 8 year old until I realized that here was a kid with a Super Brain.Looking forward as to how the series will end.
I sincerely hope that Mr. Bard will continue writing. In my opinion he is one of the most exciting authors to come forth in a long time. Not facetiously I conveyed my thought that he is almost on a level with writers the likes of Dean Koontz. Needless to say he was too modest to accept that. Nevertheless, he has a great talent.
Keep em coming Richard!!

To me, this is a mixture of Technothriller, Family Drama, Science Fiction, Military, Terrorism, and Paranormal (not the spirits and such kind) genres.
In my opinion, this story is more than the sum of all its action, thrilling as it all is, it has "heart". Something only true love of family and friends can bring out. While the other books in the series tap into this, I think this book really shows how this kind of unconditional love can and is spread to others. Maybe, I'm getting sentimental in my older age, why don't you see if you agree.
Warning: This contains Violence as well as Adult language and situations.

NO REFUGE is the first of two books that end this incredible series.
I will say that normally I am not into science fiction but Richard Bard is an excellent story teller. He weaves his stories with multiple things going on at the same time so skillfully that you feel as if you are in the room hearing the conversation not just reading it. I have great respect for Richard Bard's imagination as he brings the reader into the action and suspense.
If you haven't read the BRAINRUSH series, I suggest you start reading it. Richard Bard does not disappoint the reader in this top rated series!
