I really find that I am neutral on this one. I can't decide how to feel about it. The pictures are cute and colorful. I guess you could be of one or the other mind with this one, let's go positive first.

1. This story has cute pictures
2. It points out the wonderment of simple things being enjoyable as a child.
3. There is no violence or other things in this book kids should not see.

Now for the not too positive

1. This may encourage our children to play with dead things.
2. The boy learns a lesson about death and although we want at the beginning of the story to believe the dead spider will become an alive spider, the spider is still dead at the end of the book.
3. Children who would be receptive to a book for this age group may not be ready to have a discussion about death yet.

Just not sure how to feel, so I will go right down the middle with 3 stars. Different for sure.

You can't help but like this book as soon as you read the words "Noah picked up the spider but it wasn't moving. Why isn't it moving dad? That's because it's dead son!", you know it's going to be a lot of fun and a bit of dark humour pleases everyone.

Basically it's the tale of a kid who finds a spider in the park and even though it's dead, still wants to take it home to be his friend, his mother of course is not thrilled. Noah has a great time playing a number of games with his new friend, however isn't noticing that he is destroying the corpse as he plays. I guess if you've never raised the topic of death with your child, this would be a great ice breaker read to do so about what happens to a body when it dies.

The illustrations are really well done, the text is typed and clear but may be a little small on handheld Kindle devices, especially for children to read. On a PC screen it's fine though.

I didn't know what this book was really about when I started reading it, so I was kind of taken by surprise to find out it was about a kid "befriending" a dead spider and then playing with that spider so hard that the spider falls to bits and has to be buried. Definitely dark humor, but I like it that way, so this did appeal to me. Not sure it would be great for really little kids, but early elementary school kids will like it.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone with children. My 7 year old and I both love this book. The story reminds me of something my youngest would do. I look forward to more books by the author, I looked on Amazon and did not see any others. I use Amazon regularly and will definitely be on the look out for more of these books.

Fabulous story. It shows how wonderful a child's imagination can be. The illustrations are spot on, I know I would react and look the same way if Bob made it into my house. I reccomend this book for parents who need reminding how precious the imagination is.

Based on reviews I purchased this book to read to grandchildren. Read it to grandsons ages 7 and 4 years. Colors and illustrations are very good. Story did not grab them, no read again request. A boy finds a dead spider, puts it in a baggie, carries it around all day, then buries it. Nothing new or special there.
