1. This story has cute pictures
2. It points out the wonderment of simple things being enjoyable as a child.
3. There is no violence or other things in this book kids should not see.
Now for the not too positive
1. This may encourage our children to play with dead things.
2. The boy learns a lesson about death and although we want at the beginning of the story to believe the dead spider will become an alive spider, the spider is still dead at the end of the book.
3. Children who would be receptive to a book for this age group may not be ready to have a discussion about death yet.
Just not sure how to feel, so I will go right down the middle with 3 stars. Different for sure.
Basically it's the tale of a kid who finds a spider in the park and even though it's dead, still wants to take it home to be his friend, his mother of course is not thrilled. Noah has a great time playing a number of games with his new friend, however isn't noticing that he is destroying the corpse as he plays. I guess if you've never raised the topic of death with your child, this would be a great ice breaker read to do so about what happens to a body when it dies.
The illustrations are really well done, the text is typed and clear but may be a little small on handheld Kindle devices, especially for children to read. On a PC screen it's fine though.
