Character development in this series is nicely complex, Lowin goes through drastic changes (emotionally, mentally and physically). So much, if not all, of this new life is just thrown at him and he is expected to deal with it. He does deal with it, but it's seldom in the way we expect or those around him expect. One thing I love about this series is that the line between good and bad is very blurred. You will see a lot of this.
There is some magic, but it is well explained little by little as the story unfolds. To go into detail here would spoil things too much though. I love how “clueless” Lowin is in the beginning and the reader being on the same level as him is one of the things that makes it more fun.
I got this book as part of a compilation (The Hungering Saga Complete) and I would (and have) recommended it to friends.
I enjoyed The Hungering Saga book series by Heath Pfaff so much, it prompted me to get one of his other series, Chaos Awakens on Audible.
The book has an exciting pace which kept me constantly turning the next page to find out what would happen. Pfaff is very descriptive but not to the point where I drowned in details. Noble Fool contains strong emotionally charged events that evoke a response from the reader. I felt strongly for the main characters by the end of the book.
Overall this book has the well written plot, action, romance and magic to start a fantasy series most fans of the genre will probably love!
There is a combined version of the three books called the Hungering Saga, it's a better deal and all three books are in one neat package!
The Hungering Saga Complete
I'd even use the words...its a humdinger of a good time.
Why, why would I ever put those words together? Probably because a professional couldn't get away with it, and I think setting that there helps build my ethos.
I'm no paid goon.
This books good stuff, worth your time.
The authors a bit of a sadist though, if you know the type. Loves to gut everything the protagonist loves, and grinds you through it a bit too much. Its a tone setting thing, but it gets a little to much in places. Still, an excellent book with enough content to fill your time pleasurably.
