About the Author
USA Today bestseller author Kallypso Masters writes emotional, realistic Romance novels with an emphasis on healing using sometimes unconventional methods. Her alpha males are dominant and attracted to strong women who can bring them to their knees. Kally also has brought many readers to their knees—having them experience the stories along with her characters in the Rescue Me Saga. Kally knows that Happily Ever After takes maintenance, so her couples don’t solve all their problems and disappear at “the end” of “their” novel, but will continue to work on real problems in their relationships in later books in the Saga. Kally has been writing full-time since May 2011. She lives in rural Kentucky and has been married almost 32 years to the man who provided her own Happily Ever After. They have two adult children, one adorable grandson, and a rescued dog and cat. Kally enjoys meeting readers. This book is wrote in third person POV.
I wouldn't say this is able to so much be read as a stand-alone. I'd you haven't read the intro book, you're left wondering the back ground on these people.
I made to the half way point, and just can't do it anymore. This book is just so drawn out.
You have Karla that is so in love with Adam that she's willing to do anything for him. Including become his BDSM slave. I would love to say how she's losing her back bone, and becomes his door mat. But the truth is it takes more strength to be a slave and commit to that form of life style, than to stand there are scream for him to feck off.
Now Adam, he made this arrangement with her so she would tell him to feck off and safe word. He feels as if she deserve a better than him and trying to get her to run for the hills at any cost.
I've read and Google'd enough to know, the things he's doing, makes him a very, very dangerous Master. In one of their first scenes, she felt she pushed herself to her tolerance of pain. He didn't think that was good enough and went a step further. Wouldn't of been so bad if he had been doing scenes with her OR working her body over in other ways to know when it was enough.
There is nothing where she's stretching out before hand, then he's trying her up like a pretzel. I mean the detail was so over done to everything (that I started to skim scenes), something like yoga or stretching could of made these more plausible.
The scenes were just pages and pages and pages long. We didn't need to know throughout the same scene he didn't dye that hemp. That he was getting more of the help he didn't dye pretty colors. That he needed more of the help he didn't dye.
Here's what drove me to the end to give up. As I said, this is extremely wordy, so the author made Karla sound wishy-washy. One minute she wants Adam to know she's adult to she using adult terminology and what she wants him to do her body. The next, she's back to child like behavior of "girly bits". And "mons" from, Adam.
In all actuality I thought this book was more about her boobs than anything else. 88 times we got to hear of "nips," 135 times hear of "nipples," and last but not least 100 times on "breasts".
I feel the if it wasn't repeating and drawn out, here's an example copied from the book:
Adam’s mouth gently licked her nipple before he sucked her hard nipple into his mouth.
This book could of been better paced to help the reader stick with the story.
I'm not sure if it's better or not towards the end. Maybe one day I'll go back and finish. Especially if it's edited.
This book isn't for me. Maybe it'll be for you. If so enjoy.
Can he put his dead wife in the past and maybe love Karla?
This is the slowest paced book I have ever read. Sex. Dominance. Secrets. Bondage. I am 45% in and don’t know if I can finish it. I want to but it just seems to go on and on.
Kelly is a master at writing stories that speak to the heart. This book is no exception. I love this series and am looking forward to book four.
I would describe Adam as a tragic hero who I liked.
What I did not like was the fact that this book could have started in the middle and the story would have still been fine. The first half was tedious and said the same thing over and over again. I felt like the first half of the book could have been reduced to a couple of well-written chapters.
I hope I am not disappointed in Damian and Savannah's story.
LOVED: I love, LOVE May-December romances, and this was absolutely perfect. I rarely see a gap like this, and when I do the heroine is usually 18 or some other improbable age. This was perfect, and the dynamic was very believable. Also (SPOILER), I adored the ending. The pregnancy was so perfect, and I love how possessive he became over the unborn baby. This ticked all of my boxes for a perfect romance.
DIDNT LOVE: there was a LOT of bdsm. I'm very into alpha males/naturally dominant men, but not really into the super specific toys and things. If you are, however, this book definitely has it in spades. If you aren't into it, that's fine too, because there's enough going on that it isn't necessarily central to the story. You won't be put off by it.
