🌟🌟🌟🌟4 Star Read🌟🌟🌟🌟
This review was done on behalf of CLiK Book Blog.
This is the second book in the Swimming Upstream series, based on the main characters of Ava Jacobs and Tyler Andrews.
The story of Ava Jacobs, work obsessed, shy but highly efficient accountant by day and romance writer and dreamer the rest of the time is one that you don't need to stretch your imagination too far on. She's the girl next door type who wrote a book about an international swimming star. It just so happens that her book details were a little too close for comfort for the swim star, Tyler Andrews.
In a fit of anger, he tracks down Ava to give her a piece of his mind but their first meeting goes completely awry with interrogations, unconsciousness and spilled coffee.
So begins the slow seduction of a relationship destined to be.
Or is it????
No spoilers from me but a highly recommended accolade for a great story. A bit of fun, with the characters bring relatable and easy to like.
Now looking forward to getting into the newly released book 3 in the Swimming Upstream series - On Dry Land!
Ava and Tyler continue to collide together on their trip to the states. Ava is on vacation and Tyler is going for a public appearance, which may or may not end well.
I found this story to be sweet and endearing. I loved how Tyler could get under Ava’s skin in the best way. He was able to bring out the blush in her cheeks with a simple smile or a comment. I am giving this story 4 stars.
I liked the premise of this book, especially as it plays out. It is a modern day fairytale and an enjoyable read. If you dislike profanity, then this may not be for you but this language is integral to the two main characters personalities.
Ava is complicated and carries more than her share of emotional baggage. Faced with her dream man up close she refuses to believe something so good could be happening to her and then the problems start.
Tyler is living the dream, but he feels he is living his life according to what other people want. Meeting Ava in less than ideal circumstances makes him re-evaluate his life and want to live it his way.
The romance and sexual tension is appropriate to the new adult genre.
This is a story for the romantics.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
Nobodies Obligation features Ava- an accountant by day and a romance writer by night and her childhood/adulthood crush swimming star Tyler. Ava has followed Tyler all her life almost to the point of stalkerish habits even writing a book basing his likeness on the main character. Little does she know her little old book makes it into the hands of the man she’s been head over heels for her entire life. Tyler is more than curious when he reads a book so similar to his actual life that his suspicions are raised. Could this woman have inside information? How well does she know him having never met him? Crazy fan?
Although I thought the premise of this story was a little bit far fetched in the beginning and was slow to the uptake I really enjoyed the love story of Ava and Tyler. Facing and overcoming their hardships and living lives they never thought possible was what kept me interested in this book. Be forewarned, this book is written with some dialect. No matter who writes the book when there is dialect references to other countries (Australia this time), I have a hard time getting into the story and am distracted. Overall, my preferences aside, I believe Barber will provide you with an interesting story and you’ll enjoy.
