About the Author

USA Today bestseller author Kallypso Masters writes emotional, realistic Romance novels with an emphasis on healing using sometimes unconventional methods. Her alpha males are dominant and attracted to strong women who can bring them to their knees. Kally also has brought many readers to their knees—having them experience the stories along with her characters in the Rescue Me Saga. Kally knows that Happily Ever After takes maintenance, so her couples don’t solve all their problems and disappear at “the end” of “their” novel, but will continue to work on real problems in their relationships in later books in the Saga. Kally has been writing full-time since May 2011. She lives in rural Kentucky and has been married almost 32 years to the man who provided her own Happily Ever After. They have two adult children, one adorable grandson, and a rescued dog and cat. Kally enjoys meeting readers. Check out the Appearances page on her web site ( to see if she’ll be near you! First and foremost I want to say that being a survivor myself this book was something that I had to prepare for, as well as take my time with. Kallypso Masters wasn't afraid to delve into the dark and nit and gritty. Surviving acts like what Savannah did isn't something you can wrap into a neat bow and say "All better! Tada!" first the incest for the lead heroine in this book started when she was 8...most of her childhood is repressed and she truly had no idea what would trigger her and what would not trigger her. Damian Orlando a survivor of war had his own dragons to deal with as well, the building of trust was important. I know most were looking for a HOT read right of the book, but that was just unrealistic for these characters. I've said in reviews before that Kallypso writes realist BDSM romance novels.

As the story progressed and Damian started to pursue Savannah(Savi) and things triggered her it was like a journey through my own mind. Many of the triggers I long thought desensitized popped up and I had to put the book down. Please don't take that as a bad thing, I was warned and expected this. If you've not survived the horrors of incest or rape by a strange then you probably don't have much to worry about in the way of triggers unless you are a war survivor. I found myself clinging to the happy playful moments, Damian's birthday and Christmas were things that made me cry happy tears and laugh. When the "play" started and Savannah started to let her playful side out was a real treat it was like. Yes, Kally gets it, survivors go with the flow, you never know until you try and you can only promise to try. Damian only ever asked Honesty and to try of Savannah and when she set her mind to do something she went for it.

Kallypso sure knows how to write a story. This is number 4 in her Rescue Me series and I recommend reading them in order. #1 is free. This story is a tough one to read if you have a traumatic past. I recommend lots of tissues and a good support system if you do read it and have issues. She had me crying in the dedication before the story even began. Not being a part of the BDSM scene I love the way the lingo is laid out and everything is crystal clear to me. I don't want to put any spoilers, maybe I will come back and edit it later after more people have a chance to read it. I laughed, I cried, and I couldn't put the book down. This was an emotional ride and totally worth the wait. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I will not say I enjoyed this book. I liked that Damian and Savi find each other lost and tormented, a commonality with the H/h's in three preceding books in the Rescue Me series. However, unlike the other stories, their intimacy was infrequent and overshadowed with horror. So, if you're looking for a pleasure read comparable to KM's other books, this isn't it. There was just too much damage to navigate. It's unbearable to imagine how anyone comes back from the childhood Savi endured, which gives credibility to the interminable, excruciating scenes that consume this book. But the story had to be told this way, page after page darkened with the depravity that oppressed this very strong heroine. So, while there was nothing sexy about reading her brutal journey, I was overwhelmed with admiration. For Savi's perseverance. And for KM's ability to invent a woman courageous enough to mentally and physically escape the hell that was dealt her. Thank Christ for the happy ending, despite having to swallow it around the mass of misery in my throat.

I was not sure how deep this story would go as I followed the writer's progress through her journey as this story came to be. With BDSM being such a hot topic lately, I find myself possessive of those author's I have grown to love yet wanting to share their talents all the same. Those reading BDSM because it is "the new big thing" are the ones that simply don't get the true passion, intensity, trust, and strength it takes for those relationships to work. In Nobody's Perfect Kally Masters captured the heartache and pain that can drive a person to the lifestyle to fulfill their needs and like a rose, she truly conveyed the beauty that can bloom from those thorns.

Savannah Gentry no longer exists. The battered little girl who was afraid of the man she called her father, has suffered enough and is gone but not forgotten. Savi Baker rose from the ashes of that little girl and is determined to be the strong woman her daughter Marisol needs for a mother. Years after freeing herself from the torture she knew as a child, she finally felt safe. She wasn't expecting to see the man who gave her the courage to find that freedom ever again, but when he appeared in her clinic that day, the memories came rushing back. Damian Orlando, the amazing man that let her feel beautiful if only for one night, had gifted her with the child that kept her alive all of these years. Of course he wouldn't know about Marisol, her reason for living, but just seeing him brought back a flood of emotions she was not ready to deal with. Weeks later, and suddenly out of a job, Savi is not sure what to do or how to explain what happened.
