From the Author
NOCK is the result of focused effort after I found out that Infected Books had selected it in the Pitch & Page contest. For that competition, entrants were asked to give a twenty-five word "pitch" that described the story as well as the first two-hundred-fifty words from their first page. The pitch for NOCK was selected by all the judges as the winner. The problem was that I hadn't written anything more than that first scene. Three days, less than five hours of sleep, and gallons of coffee later, NOCK was sent off to David Moody and crew.
I hope you enjoy it. The people of Shawnee Lodge have been through hell, several times, but over the years since everything fell apart, they've reached a comfortable stability. Youth, of course, finds stability boring.
