Specifically designed for low impedance case cooling applications, the classic NF-S12B is a long-standing favourite among enthusiast users around the world and helped to found Noctua’s reputation as a top-tier manufacturer of premium quality quiet cooling components. The new redux edition reissues this award-winning model in a streamlined, accessibly priced package that has been reduced to the essential core: the NF-S12B premium fan. Its industry grade SSO-Bearing bearing and over 150.000 hours MTBF rating make the NF-S12B redux a proven premium choice that provides trusted Noctua quality. The 1200rpm PWM version features Noctua’s proprietary NE-FD1 for automatic speed control, which allows to strike a perfect balance between high cooling capacity and low noise operation in each given situation.
Proven NF-S12B design
Tens of thousands of quiet cooling enthusiasts around the globe swear by Noctua's classic NF-S12B. Thanks to its impressive quietness, excellent performance and impeccable quality, the NF-S12B has become an established reference for quiet 120mm fans.
Designed for efficient case ventilation
Typical PC case ventilation applications require high airflow but only medium static pressure. The NF-S12B has been specifically designed for high airflow efficiency and low noise in order to provide best results in these so called low impedance applications .
Combining the proven concept of hydrodynamic bearing with an additional magnet that supports the self-stabilisation of the rotor axis, Noctua's time-tested technology has become synonymous with supremely quiet operation and exceptional long-term stability.
Bevelled Blade Tips
Reducing critical rotor stator interaction, Bevelled Blade Tips permit to combine extended leading edges and a higher blade surface area with quieter operation and thus form a cornerstone of the fan's outstanding efficiency.
Colour-customisable with NA-SAVP1 anti-vibration pads
The fan’s frame can be outfitted with Noctua’s chromax line NA-SAVP1 anti-vibration pads. Available in black, red, blue, white, green and yellow, these pads not only damp minute vibrations but also allow the fan to be colour-customised in order to coordinate it with popular build colour schemes!
Streamlined Redux Edition
The redux product line reissues some of Noctua's most popular, award-winning models by presenting them in streamlined, accessibly priced packages. All redux edition products are industry proven, time-tested models that helped to found Noctua's reputation as a first-tier supplier of premium grade low noise cooling equipment.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
The only scenario in which the 12-B performed adequately was at locked 1000 RPMs with the front panel removed. But this is simply not a realistic test cases. You *should not* be in-taking without a filter! And modern front panels are getting more and more complex, requiring higher and higher static pressure from intake fans. There's honestly no reason to get this fan while the 12B exists.
Now a few notes, some people want more details on color. I liked the color, but they are in no way colors you can normally pair. The fans have a neutral gray approach to them with darker gray fins. Because of their high quality build, they do look great inside a black case with black components. Which, I must add, was not done on purpose. I just chose parts, with much review, that were the highest durability I could find for the price. It looks awesome though.
These fans are not as quiet as their other varieties of fans with the anti vibration silicone. This is not an issue, as a good case with sound dampening will kill any remnant of sound they do produce Which is not much I must add.
I started out with my case's stock fans - it's an NZXT s340, so whatever comes stock with those. Upgraded to Corsair AF120s. They were a decent improvement. Swapped those out for these guys - BIG improvement! I saw my temps go way down and they're whisper quiet too.
As a plus: cables come pre-sleeved. Looks nice, although the sleeving material is a bit sticky/tacky. But it's better than the unsleeved ketchup & mustard cables a lot of fans have.
Also, call me crazy, but...even the screws they include are better than most fans. They're nice self-tapping ones. Most other fans I've tried have just used "standard" (non self-tapping) screws and they're harder to install and keep the screw going in straight. These ones are super nice. I know that's probably a weird thing to point out/notice, but it was really noticeable when installing the fans how much nicer the screws were. Haha.
Anyways. I'll be buying more Noctua's VERY soon. Love it.
But the performance of this fan is fantastic! I'm using them in Fractal Design Define C cases. I chose high pressure fans to overcome the filters and more restrictive intake areas of this case, and after only some experience with them, I'm very impressed. At a 50% PWM duty cycle, they run about 720RPMs and are nearly dead silent, but you can really feel them moving some air, even through the filters. There is basically no bearing or motor noise at these speeds. Once I go over 50% duty cycle, they become slightly audible, but it's mostly the air movement noise, no buzz/whine, etc.
I still have to put these fans through their paces, but I'm really impressed by the quality!
I have 2 complaints, however:
- The cable, while very nice for a PC fan is very nice, is a little short. 2 to 3 extra inches would have really helped get the fans connected to the headers I wanted to use.
- The fans don't come with any rubber grommets, which I was expecting at this price point and quality level. It appears Noctura sells them separately.
But overall, this is probably the best 120mm fan I've encountered so far in performance terms.
Top reviews from other countries
1. 2$ more expansive than on Amazon USA (after conversion)
2. 16 vibration dampeners are sold separately for $9.95 extra (none came with this fan)
3. Y Splitter and Low Noise adapter are included with NF-A12 (nothing with this one)
So for $7 extra you can get NF-A12 which comes with many more cables and accessories and is a full fledged product. I feel that this bare bone fans should be $3-$5 cheaper, but that is just me.
