In the 20 years I've been building computers, I've used many different pastes - diamond, carbon, ceramic, and silver based. NT-H1 is one of the best. In addition to its very good performance, NT-H1 has the perfect consistency for uniform application on chip surfaces.
My laptop runs very hot. Specs are i7-4800HQ with a RX M290X graphics card.
The laptop was idling around 65°C and under full load around with the fan at max, 98-99°C.
The Graphics card was topping out at 97°C under full load with the fan at max.
After applying the Noctura paste:
Laptop idling around 49°C and under full load never more than 90°C. Fan hardly ever comes when not gaming.
Graphics card now runs between 70-80°C with the fan at 1/4 to half speed and never more than 76°C under full load with the fan at max after 4+ hours of gaming.
I strongly recommend this product! As you can see not all thermal pastes are created equal.
That said, I haven't used any from this tube, but it's the same stuff, so I figure it's still applicable!
I've used Arctic Silver on every build I've done, and it's always been a good product that's easy to apply, lasted a decent time in the tube, and would consistently yield good temperatures even if I can't compare the performance of the stuff to this.
The nice thing about Noctua's TIM is the fact that it's non conductive. That means over-application or smudges on components across two circuits won't immediately fry all your expensive bits. It's well priced for a lot of material (could probably do at least 20 processors), it spreads easily, it is easy to dispense, and it has a screw on cap that just screams attention to detail.
Third party benchmarks put Noctua's product very, very close to the top of many other high end or enthusiast grade products, excluding liquid metal.
I'm as pleased as I could be (it's just thermal paste) and Noctua continues to serve the high end and enthusiast computer users well.
