The plot of the book is also amazing. It sucked me in from the first chapter and left me wanting MORE at the end. I was actually a little depressed when I finished the book because I had been so into it. It was like I had jut stepped out of a seriously intense roller coaster and couldn't find my footing. That doesn't happen to me too often. I can only hope that Sigler writes a sequel someday. The plot is winding, twisting, and fast-paced. The book's pacing is superb and it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire novel. The story winds and twists and has so many of those wonderful revelation moments where you are like "Ooooh, everything makes sense now!" It all comes together beautifully in a thrilling finale. I literally could not put the book down at the end. Couldn't even if I wanted to. There need to be more books like this in the world. I could not recommend this book more strongly.
Edited to add: I purchased this book from Random House, thru Amazon, during a $1.99 special. My first download was missing many pages, and after struggling to understand the story, I returned it. There was no difficulty with the return. What I had been able to read had intrigued me, so several hours later, I purchased the book again. This time, there were no errors. I have not seen anyone else mention problems with the quality of the download, so I thought I'd mention it.
The story line is great and is very well written. The description of the "monsters" is vivid and easily visualized in your mind. The characters of Pookie and Brian are awesome and the dialog between them is humorous but does not take away from the story.
Did I mention lots of action and descriptive monsters? You wont' lack in those areas while reading.
Would like to see a follow up novel to Nocturnal as the story can be continued. I will definitely be recommending this book to others. This has got to be one of the best horror novels out there right now.
