Has no one heard of Nick and Norahs infinite playlist?
It’s a famous book and movie.
Also Nick and Noels and a famous story too. But at least that ones for kids.
Now I won’t put this book down- it still takes talent to write and portray a story even if it’s a copy due to storyline inspiration. I think the author has talent for sure and I’d love to read a book that wasn’t a copycat that didn’t give credit to the original. just that you, as a fellow author, should of given credit to what inspired you- that’s the right thing to do.
It’s one thing to be similar- because hello, tropes- but this is a near copy with some changes in the events. So that is great- honestly i totally support being inspired and writing similar stories that speak to our souls. Us readers want more of what we react well too. What we love. But just give credit okay? Support author to author and say what inspired you. If people just rip eachother off and provide no credit how can we ever all succeed?
Because again, it’s awesome to be inspiring and write a very similar story. It’s not okay to not give credit to a nearly identical and in a unique sense not just a girl meets boy sense but family, characters, soundtrack template, everything.
Plus no PDF except the songs were provided but that may be international. However for the cost I figured it’d be for the book- it sounds like that. Thank God I have an audible membership
The story itself was okay, as it was definitely something you can figure it out way at the beginning of the book, but it was still fun to listen to with all the humor and the journey of the characters as they try to figure things out. It could get a little frustrating at times because you're like just do this already, and this book can seem like it's a little longer than it has to be, but this book isn't just about romance or comedy or the holiday's. Those are just part of the undercurrent of the story. I feel as this book really focuses around Noel and her brokenness and imperfections and that people can be loved no matter how broke or imperfect they are if they just open their heart to it and trust. So with something like that there isn't an easy fix, and only time and patience can heal some wounds. So the story does take some time as the characters try to work through their struggles and figure out what they want. Then there were other parts of the story that would have some very hot and steamy coitus scenes, hahaha and I use that specific word for a reason in this review, but the author did a good job at using it to add spice to the characters without using it to carry the whole story along. In this book it definitely is used to show the years and depths of feelings these characters had locked up for each other, but the character's bantering, arguing, and support really shows how they are connected or feel for each other and is what makes this book!
As for the narration both Brooke Bloomingdale and Edward Thomas does a fantastic job in the shared narration by doing a great job at keeping the personalities of the characters the same and not losing a beat with the story. I would always get a little chuckle when they would change their voices for some of the characters. The speed of their narration was just right and they really put a lot of effort into the personalities and humor of the characters. So although I wouldn't give this book a full five stars, it was pretty close. I rated it four stars, but I could probably say I would give it four and a half stars. Codi Hall does a fantastic job with this book. And although this book isn't a huge, over the top, and in your face Christmas story, it is a very cute holiday read that will definitely have you laughing and even steaming up some of those cold winter days and nights for you hahaha. Happy reading or listening everyone and happy holidays!
Nick and Noel's Christmas Playlist by Codi Hall is a light, fun holiday romance and is the first in the author’s Mistletoe Romance series. I enjoyed this somewhat steamy, quick romance that is perfect for the holiday season.
Noel is a busy nurse in a labor and delivery ward at the local hospital. Nick, has just returned from a stint in the military. Noel and Nick grew up together as their mothers were best friends. When Noel was younger, her parents died in a car crash just before Christmas, and Nick’s family, the Winters, took her in and cared for her until she joined the military and got her nursing degree.
The book starts with Nick returning home, excited to spend time with his girlfriend, Amanda. Instead of the joyful reunion Nick expected, he was dumped on his first day back. As he begins to realize that Amanda wasn’t the perfect girlfriend he had always thought she was, his thoughts turn to his best friend Noel, and how she is the one that has always been there for him.
Nick and Noel’s Christmas Playlist is a light, fun romantic comedy that I enjoyed. I felt so much compassion for Noel and was rooting for her to figure out what she really wants in life. Nick is just wonderful, he’s such a good guy, and I loved his family as well. I did not care for Amber, the ex-girlfriend of Nick, and I thought the feud between Amber and Noel was a bit over the top and childish. Also, the book had a few too many childish antics from Nick’s friends for my taste. But, overall the book was enjoyable. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
