Noirville: Tales From The Dark Side Kindle Edition
Selected from 100s of entries to a short story competition run by Fahrenheit Press in late 2017, the 15 stories that make up NOIRVILLE represent some of the very best crime fiction being written today.
This collection includes a selection of both new and established writers - the only criteria we gave the judges was that the stories had to be awesome.
Featuring stories from; S.E. Bailey, Sarah M. Chen, Patsy Collins, Russell Day, Jen Delozier, Paul Gadsby, Joe Guglielmelli, Chris Hyatt, Scott Miles, John Scheck, John Schreier, Alex Shaw, Jeff C. Stevenson, Marc Sorondo & Glenda Young
With huge thanks to our judges; Jo Perry, Kate Moloney, Gordon McGhie, Janet Emson, Verity Wilde & David Nemeth.
“There are thirty-two ways to write a story, and I’ve used every one, but there is only one plot – things are not as they seem.” ― Jim Thompson

I have to say, I really enjoyed them all.
One thing they all had in common, was that each nicely set its own scene, providing just enough story line to allow the tale to make sense.
They all truly made for great short stories, and some left me wishing I could turn the page at the end and find "Chapter 2"! Two stories that especially left me wishing they'd been books in their own right were “Justin’s Room”, by Jen Delozier, and "The Business Card", by Jeff C. Stevenson.
One particular story left me completely blown away at the end: "The Icing On The Cake” by Russell Day. I'm not often lost for words, but the end of this story left me open-mouthed & wondering what the hell had just happened (aka: "I completely missed that"!). It was especially powerful because the general atmosphere of the story is quite peaceful and low key. Then the ending just knocks you out.
If you haven't yet read Noirville, I'd definitely recommend adding it to your Fahrenheit Press "To-Read" list -- not only because it's a brilliant collection of fabulous writing, but also because Noirville 2 is due out later this year!
